About the Role
As Coordinator Communications, Advocacy and Engagement you will:
- Provide leadership and supervision to the Communications and Community Engagement teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
- Oversee and manage the daily workflow of the team, ensuring timely delivery of campaigns and materials.
- Oversee and approve all external communication materials, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and alignment with the organisation’s messaging and branding guidelines.
- Assist in the development and implementation of communications, community engagement and advocacy strategies that support the organisation’s objectives and enhance stakeholder engagement.
- Manage projects from inception to completion, including campaign planning, execution, monitoring, and evaluation. This includes documents such as the Annual Report.
- Support the development and execution of crisis communication plans, providing timely and effective communication during emergencies or critical incidents.
- Foster positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Research, identify and implement funding sources and opportunities that influence government policy and optimise financial investment into the Baw Baw Shire Council community.
- Proactively identify opportunity for engagement, as well as risks and provide advice, intelligence and analysis of the external political and stakeholder environment to strengthen advocacy strategies.
About the Successful Candidate
To be successful in this position, you will have:
- The ability to write for a variety of mediums and audiences, including media releases, speeches etc.
- Ability to research and proof editorial content for advertising copy and speeches.
- Knowledge of and understanding of media
- Knowledge and understanding of the economic, political and social issues relating to Local Government environment is preferred.
- Strong computer skills in MS Office.
- Experience using programs and software such as Open Cities and media monitoring systems. This is preferred but not essential.
- Photography skills preferred but not essential.
- Demonstrated skills in the development of communications strategies.
- Excellent communication, relationship building skills and sound decision making.
