The purpose of this role is to provide operational supervision of the Microbiology Clinical Assistant team, overseeing pre-analytical laboratory processes, staff training, quality activities and service delivery while maintaining active involvement in day-to-day laboratory operations.
What you'll do
In this role you will supervise and support Clinical Assistant staff within the Microbiology work unit, coordinate pre-analytical laboratory operations, deliver training and professional development activities, oversee quality, stock and document control processes, conduct performance and development reviews, maintain compliance with NATA and ISO requirements, contribute to customer service and stakeholder engagement activities, perform complex specimen reception and processing duties, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the laboratory.

Has experience in pathology specimen reception or laboratory support services
Has demonstrated leadership, supervision or team coordination experience
Can effectively manage competing priorities in a fast-paced laboratory environment
Has strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills
Has experience delivering training and supporting staff development
Can apply problem-solving and troubleshooting skills within operational laboratory settings
