Full Job Description

Position Overview

An opportunity exists for experienced Disability Support Workers to provide high-quality, person-centred support to an NDIS participant residing in Laggan, New South Wales. The participant lives independently on a rural property and has complex physical support needs.

The successful applicant will play a vital role in supporting the participant to maintain his independence, fulfil his parenting responsibilities, and remain actively engaged within his home and community.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with personal care tasks, including hygiene, dressing, and stoma management
Support the participant with manual handling, wheelchair transfers, and mobility throughout the home and community
Provide domestic assistance, including light household duties, meal preparation, and laundry
Support attendance at medical appointments and community-based activities as required
Maintain accurate documentation and progress notes in accordance with NDIS standards
Uphold the participant's dignity, choice, and control at all times

Selection Criteria

Essential

Current Australian driver's licence and access to a reliable, registered, and insured vehicle (essential due to rural location)
Demonstrated experience supporting individuals with physical disability and complex support needs
Competency in safe manual handling and wheelchair-based support
Willingness to provide personal care, including stoma support (training available where required)
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage respectfully with both the participant and his children
Reliable, punctual, and professional conduct

Desirable

Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, or a related field
Prior experience working with NDIS participants in rural or regional settings
Familiarity with complex health needs, including chronic pain management and stoma care

Mandatory Compliance Requirements

NDIS Worker Screening Check
Working with Children Check (NSW)
Current First Aid and CPR certification
Manual Handling training
National Police Check
Right to work in Australia
