Full Job Description

Opening Date: 1st July. Start date, mid-end June for menu preparation and kitchen set-up (majority already done0
Cafe located in a very unique area which has a fast growing community. The café will be focused on high-quality coffee, fresh seasonal dishes, and a welcoming community atmosphere. We’re assembling a small, creative kitchen team and seeking an experienced Chef to lead menu development and kitchen operations. The menu will be a modern cafe style, full of fresh, tasty items. Certainly a destination cafe.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop the café menu (breakfast, brunch, light lunches, daily specials)
Source high-quality ingredients; manage vendor relationships and stock control
Lead kitchen service: prep, cooking, plating, quality control
Train, supervise, and schedule kitchen staff; maintain a positive team culture
Ensure food safety, hygiene, and compliance with local regulations

Requirements

3+ years’ experience in a chef or senior cook role, preferably in cafes or casual dining
Strong menu development and basic pastry experience a plus
Knowledge of food safety/hygiene standards (certification preferred)
Excellent leadership, time management, and communication skills
Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and flexible shifts
Passion for seasonal, high-quality ingredients and consistent execution
