About the Role
The Graphic and Multimedia Developer is responsible for the design, development, and production of engaging graphic and multimedia learning and teaching resources for higher education courses and programs.
The role supports academic staff in creating innovative, accessible, and student-centred digital learning experiences across online, blended, and face-to-face delivery modes. Combining expertise in instructional design, graphic design, multimedia production, and educational technologies, the position contributes to the enhancement of student engagement, learning outcomes, and overall course quality.
Key Responsibilities
Graphic and Multimedia Design:
- Produce high-quality visual and multimedia assets that enhance student learning and engagement
- Design course branding, templates, diagrams, illustrations, and instructional graphics that support effective communication of learning content
- Ensure visual consistency, quality, and alignment across course materials, multimedia resources, and digital learning platforms in accordance with institutional standards and branding guidelines
Multimedia Production and Development:
- Design, develop, and produce high-quality, multimedia-rich learning and teaching resources for higher education courses and programs, including interactive learning materials, educational videos, podcasts, screen recordings, infographics, animations, motion graphics, and digital presentations
- Translate complex academic concepts into clear, engaging, and accessible visual and multimedia learning experiences that enhance student understanding, participation and engagement
- Plan, coordinate, record, edit, publish, and manage multimedia production workflows, timelines, and delivery schedules to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality educational resources
Learning Design Support:
- Collaborate with the academic staff, learning designer, library and IT team to align learning and teaching resources with curriculum requirements, course objectives, and intended learning outcomes
- Support the development of engaging and active online and blended learning experiences to enhance student participation, interaction, and success
Educational Technology and LMS Development:
- Develop, integrate, and maintain digital and multimedia learning and teaching content within learning management systems such as Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard, etc.
- Configure and implement multimedia and interactive components to support effective online and blended course delivery
- Contribute to the improvement of usability, accessibility, and overall learner experience across digital learning environments
Accessibility and Quality Assurance:
- Ensure all course materials comply with accessibility standards, inclusive learning principles, and institutional quality requirements
- Review, test, and evaluate digital learning and teaching content to ensure functionality, usability, accuracy, and a high-quality learner experience
- Apply copyright, intellectual property, and licensing requirements in the development and use of educational resources and multimedia materials
Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
- Research emerging educational technologies, digital learning practices, and multimedia trends to support continuous innovation in learning and teaching
- Recommend and implement innovative approaches that enhance learner engagement, digital pedagogy, and the overall online learning experience
- Contribute to institutional digital learning initiatives, course enhancement projects, and the continuous improvement of learning and teaching practices
- Deliver professional development and training sessions in multimedia design, development, and production to academic and professional staff
About You
The successful candidate will possess:
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant qualification in multimedia, graphic design, educational technology, digital media, or a closely related field
- At least two years’ experience in end-to-end development and production of multimedia educational content
- At least two years’ experience in designing and developing digital learning and teaching resources for face-to-face, blended, and fully online learning environments
- Good experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS), such as Moodle, Canvas, and Blackboard Learn
- Good experience using course design applications and digital authoring tools to create text, audio, video, and interactive learning content
- Good experience in user-centred design approaches to develop effective, engaging, and accessible learning experiences
- A minimum of two to three years’ experience working within a higher education provider
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency in industry-standard design and media tools like Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, Captiva, etc.
- Proficiency in eLearning authoring and multimedia production tools like Articulate Storyline, OBS Studio, H5P, iSpring Suite, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, etc.
- Proficiency with AI-assisted creative and production tools like Synthesia, CapCut, DaVinci Resolve, Movavi Video Editor, etc.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and related productivity tools
- Familiarity with relevant information systems and educational technologies, including Learning Management Systems such as Moodle and enterprise systems such as TechnologyOne
