About the role
Due to continued growth and upcoming project opportunities, Contract Resources (CR) is seeking an experienced and motivated NACE Level 2 Inspector to join our WA team supporting onshore Oil & Gas projects across the region.
In this field-based, hands-on role, you will be responsible for the inspection, verification, and monitoring of surface preparation and protective coating activities across our client facilities, ensuring all work is completed in accordance with project specifications, ITPs, and industry standards.
Working closely with coating crews and site supervision, you will play a key role in driving quality at the work front, supporting compliance, and ensuring coating works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
To be considered, you must hold a current NACE Level 2 Coating Inspector certification. Trade qualifications in automotive painting, surface preparation, blasting, or coating application are highly regarded.
This role is FIFO from Perth, WA, with a project duration currently forecast through to September, with potential opportunities to transition into other project scopes across Australia upon completion.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Conducting inspection and verification of surface preparation and coating application activities in accordance with project specifications, ITPs, and client requirements
- Performing coating inspections (if applicable) and completing quality hold point verifications
- Monitoring blasting & coating conditions, including surface cleanliness, environmental and application standards
- Maintaining accurate QA/QC documentation, inspection records, and daily reports
- Raising and documenting non-conformance reports (NCRs) and ensuring corrective actions are closed out
- Supporting field crews to ensure coating works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to specification
- Ensuring all work is completed in line with HSEQ systems, procedures, and project requirements
- Actively participating in work fronts, supporting a hands-on, field-driven quality approach
- Working collaboratively with all crews, supervisors, and client representatives to ensure quality outcomes
Required Licences & Experience:
- Current NACE Level 2 Coating Inspector Certification (essential)
- Strong understanding of coating standards, ITPs, and QA/QC processes
- Proven experience in industrial coating inspection and/or surface preparation within Oil, Gas or similar industries
- Experience working on shutdowns, turnaround projects, or refinery maintenance scopes (highly regarded)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with site crews and supervisors
- Trade background in blasting, painting, surface preparation, or similar (advantageous)
- Strong commitment to Work Health, Safety & Environmental standards (HSEQ)
- Ability to work in FIFO, shutdown, and fast-paced project environments
- Enter and Work in Confined Spaces (within 2 years – essential)
- Operate Breathing Apparatus (within 2 years – essential)
- Gas Test Atmosphere (within 2 years – essential)
- Working at Heights (within 2 years – essential)
- Construction Induction Card (White Card)
- Full Australian working rights
- Current Driver’s Licence
