Full Job Description

We are a fast-growing technology and digital ecosystem. As our infrastructure scales across web technologies, managed systems, and automation networks, we need a brilliant Software & Web Systems Developer to join our fully remote team.

This is not a basic front-end or theme-tweaking design role. We are looking for an developer who thrives on back-end logic, secure networking, cloud infrastructure, and complex API integrations. If you love containerizing environments, managing secure networks, and making disparate systems talk to each other flawlessly, this is for you.

This is a 100% remote contract/casual role with competitive hourly pay in AUD, working during AEST business hours.

Key Responsibilities:

Infrastructure & Containerization: Deploy, manage, and optimize applications using Docker and secure network overlays like Tailscale.
Cloud & Storage Management: Architect and maintain secure object storage solutions utilizing Amazon S3 and Cloudflare R2/Buckets, along with DNS and edge networking.
API & Systems Integration: Build and maintain robust, custom API integrations connecting web technologies, CRMs, and internal systems.
Smart Automation & Local Systems: Develop and configure integrations for smart automation platforms, including Home Assistant ecosystems, where required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Tech Stack Mastery: Deep understanding of backend programming languages, RESTful/GraphQL APIs, and server administration.
DevOps & Cloud Fundamentals: Practical experience with Docker container management, Tailscale configurations, Cloudflare, and AWS.
Communication: Exceptional fluent written and spoken English. You must be comfortable explaining technical architecture clearly over video calls.
Availability: Fully available for regular team syncs and emergency patches during standard AEST business hours.

Pay: $30.00 – $60.00 per hour

Application Question(s):

The Infrastructure Test: Walk us through a real-world scenario where you used Docker and Tailscale together. How did you structure the environment, and how did Tailscale secure the communication between containers or remote nodes?
Data & Storage: When routing media assets or application data through Cloudflare Buckets (R2) or Amazon S3, what steps do you take to ensure maximum security (permissions/IAM) and cost/caching efficiency?
Integration Challenge: Imagine you need to bridge an on-premise device running Home Assistant with a cloud-based web application via a custom API, ensuring low-latency and secure access. High-level, how would you architect this solution?
What is your desired hourly rate (in AUD)?
How many years of experience do you have dealing with cloud infrastructure, containerization (Docker), and advanced API development?
Availability Check: This role requires you to be available for video/phone calls and active deployments during AEST business hours. Does this align with your schedule?
