Introduction:
If you’re someone who finds purpose in supporting students one-on-one and helping them feel safe, encouraged, and capable in their learning journey, Carey Baptist College would love to hear from you.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a compassionate and student-centred Education Assistant to join our team in a funding-based support role, working closely with one of our students to provide personalised educational and pastoral support throughout the school day.
This role is deeply relational and plays an important part in helping a student access learning, build confidence, develop independence, and feel connected within the classroom and wider school environment.
Working closely with teachers and the broader student support team, you will help implement learning strategies, encourage participation, and provide practical and emotional support tailored to the student’s individual needs.
What Matters Most
At Carey, we believe every student is known, valued, and supported to flourish.
This role is about far more than supervision. It is about building trust, creating consistency, and helping a young person navigate their learning and social environment with dignity, patience, and encouragement.
The right person will bring warmth, calmness, flexibility, and the ability to form positive, professional relationships while supporting the student to engage meaningfully in their education.
What You Will Bring
A genuine Christian faith and commitment to Carey’s mission and values
A caring, patient, and encouraging approach when working with students
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and professional staff
Good organisational skills and ability to follow structured learning programs
An understanding of the importance of inclusion, wellbeing, and student dignity
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
Flexibility, initiative, and a calm approach in dynamic environments
Experience working with students requiring additional support is highly regarded, though not essential. Training and support will be provided.

Assisting teachers in implementing planned learning activities and education programs
Supporting the student’s engagement, participation, and independence in class activities
Assisting with organisation, routines, transitions, and classroom tasks
