The Role
As a Special Needs Education Assistant (SNEA), you will ideally, under limited supervision and guidance from the Learning Support Team, perform tasks that require discretion and judgement to assist students in achieving their full potential. We strive for an inclusive school environment that caters for students with a diverse range of support needs both academically and socially.
SNEA’s are timetabled to support students and classes across a wide range of curriculum areas and departments within the school. SNEA’s placed in our pool may be offered positions in our STRIVE room which specifically caters for approximately 30 students across all years, requiring additional support. STRIVE classroom is set up with one teacher and approximately 7 SNEA’s, or they may be placed in a mainstream classroom to support 1 or 2 specific children. Suitable applicants should therefore possess well developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate with teachers to scaffold the curriculum and provide feedback on Teaching and Learning Adjustments. Applicants who have a positive attitude and the ability to anticipate and adapt to change, showing initiative and flexibility to produce the best opportunities for students will be highly regarded.

- Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
