About Alkane
Costerfield Operations, owned and operated by Alkane Resources Ltd, is situated in Central Victoria, east of Bendigo and surrounded by numerous towns within a 50km radius, offering a variety of residential options.
Our current operation runs an underground mine and processing plant that is responsible for producing gold and antimony. The mine's workforce consists of over 250 permanent employees who hold various roles in professional, technical, mining, processing, and trades.

About The Role
Reporting to the Community and Environmental Superintendent and working closely with the Environmental Advisor, you will be responsible for environmental monitoring and data management activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory and operational requirements
.
This role will see you working both outdoors and in an administrative capacity, with a strong focus on data integrity, safety, and stakeholder engagement.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
Environmental Monitoring
Conduct monitoring and sampling of surface water, groundwater, dust, noise, and blast vibration
- Maintain and manage remote monitoring equipment
- Collect and handle samples in accordance with industry standards, including chain-of-custody documentation
- Maintain field equipment, perform calibrations, and manage consumables
- Liaise with laboratories, contractors, and service providers
- Engage with landowners and community stakeholders regarding monitoring activities
Data Management
- Accurately collect and upload field data into management systems
- Maintain and validate environmental datasets
- Compile laboratory, weather, and field data for reporting purposes
- Prepare clear and concise reports and documentation
- Provide administrative support including procurement, inventory tracking, and document coordination
Environmental Controls & Site Support
- Inspect environmental infrastructure such as pipelines, dams, and treatment systems
- Assist with equipment setup, minor repairs, and general site upkeep
- Support safe and efficient field operations
Health, Safety & Environment
- Comply with all WHS legislation, policies, and procedures
- Identify hazards and report incidents or unsafe conditions
- Participate in safety meetings, risk assessments, and toolbox talks
Promote a strong safety culture through teamwork and positive behaviours

About You
You are organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable working both in the field and in an office environment. You enjoy practical work, problem-solving, and collaborating with a range of stakeholders.
Essential Requirements
· Degree in Environmental Science, Applied Science or related field experience
· Experience in environmental monitoring and sampling
· Knowledge of GIS software (QGIS – graduate level)
· Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills
· Manual driver’s licence
· Physically fit and able to work outdoors in varying conditions
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to manage data accurately and meet deadlines
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience working on a mining, quarrying, or industrial site
Knowledge of Victorian environmental regulations
