About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced AI Engineer to establish and lead FB Rice’s AI engineering capability, driving the design, development, and deployment of practical AI solutions that deliver measurable business value across the firm. Please note that we will consider applications from Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.
Key Responsibilities
The AI Engineer Team Lead will:
- Create and deploy AI solutions for business groups including Patent & Trademark, BD, Finance, HR, Knowledge, and Operations
- Build with Microsoft Copilot, Power Platform, Azure AI, OpenAI, and approved tools
- Identify AI opportunities, translate business needs into practical use cases, and deliver prototypes through to production
- Define success metrics and present demos to encourage adoption
- Mentor developers, establish best practices in AI engineering, and ensure compliance and secure practices
- Collaborate across teams to shape AI policy, contribute to the firm’s AI roadmap, and evaluate new technologies
- Stay current with AI advancements and drive innovation to differentiate FB Rice
- Undertake other duties as requested by the Head of IT and Digital Transformation.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- A minimum of 3 years relevant experience in a similar role, ideally within the professional services sector is required. Candidates should demonstrate a solid background that aligns with the demands and responsibilities of this position
- Experience in developing AI-enabled applications using APIs such as OpenAI and Azure AI. Preference will be given to those familiar with low-code platforms, especially Power Platform, as well as web frameworks including React, Node.js, or comparable technologies
- A strong understanding of prompt engineering techniques is essential, along with expertise in retrieval-augmented generation concepts, data integration, and workflow automation processes
- Experience working within enterprise SaaS ecosystems is required, with a preference for those who have worked with Microsoft platforms
- A proven track record of leading or mentoring engineering teams, demonstrating leadership and collaborative skills
- The ability to rapidly progress from concept to a working solution is vital, showcasing agility and problem-solving capabilities
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills in a professional services setting are required, including the capacity to translate complex technical concepts into outcomes that are relevant and understandable for business stakeholders
- A thorough understanding of data privacy and security requirements is necessary, as well as familiarity with responsible AI principles and the risks associated with generative AI in client environments. Experience in legal, intellectual property, or professional services firms, exposure to Microsoft Copilot or Copilot Studio, knowledge management or document-intensive environments, and experience establishing AI governance frameworks are desirable.
