Who we're looking for:
We are seeking an experienced Application Developer Lead to drive the design, development and support of Power Platform and custom-built applications across the business.
Leading a small team (2 direct reports), this role is responsible for translating business requirements into scalable, secure and cost-effective technical solutions. You will oversee the end-to-end application lifecycle, ensuring high-quality delivery from ideation through to deployment and ongoing support.
Working closely with Architecture, Data and Business stakeholders, you will play a key role in shaping solution design, driving best practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
With a collaborative leadership style and focus on developing others, the successful candidate will bring a passion for innovation, automation and continuous improvement. You possess deep technical expertise complemented by the ability to think strategically, enabling you to design solutions that deliver long-term value. You take a pragmatic approach to balancing quality, speed and cost, ensuring outcomes are both effective and efficient. Above all, you are committed to delivering high-quality, secure and scalable solutions that meet business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, deployment and support of Power Platform and custom applications
- Manage the full solution lifecycle including ideation, design, build, testing and continuous improvement
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the development team (2 direct reports)
- Translate business requirements into scalable, secure and high-performing technical solutions
- Establish and enforce development standards, ensuring consistency, reusability and quality
- Drive best practice across design, configuration, performance and security
- Collaborate with Architecture, Data and Business teams to align to roadmaps and strategies
- Lead technical discussions and act as a key escalation point for complex issues
- Oversee documentation, testing and smooth transition into live operations
- Ensure effective support and maintenance of applications, managing escalations and incident resolution
- Identify automation opportunities and deliver innovative solutions to improve business outcomes
- Contribute to Design Authority forums and technical governance processes
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and external partners
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration and innovation within the team
Technical Expertise
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Power Platform:
- Power Apps (Canvas and Model-driven)
- Power Automate
- Power Pages
- Experience developing within Power Pages including:
- Liquid Code
- Web API
- Server-side logic
- Working knowledge of Power Apps Code Apps
- Strong front-end development experience with:
- HTML
- JavaScript / TypeScript
- React
- Experience with SharePoint Framework (SPFx)
- Experience with Microsoft Dataverse and Azure Functions
- Strong knowledge of Azure technologies including:
- Azure Functions
- Web Apps
- Logic Apps
- Solid understanding of Azure architecture and solution design
- Knowledge of wider Microsoft ecosystem (M365, Teams, SharePoint)
- Experience with Azure DevOps for Agile delivery and CI/CD pipelines (automated deployments)
- Scripting capability (PowerShell preferred)
- Familiarity with source control tools such as Git
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies and best practices
- Database knowledge including data modelling and data manipulation
- Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale applications
Experience & Qualifications
- 5+ years' experience delivering enterprise application solutions
- Experience working in Agile environments
- Degree in IT, Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Microsoft certifications (desirable), such as:
- Power Platform certifications (PL-100 / PL-200 / PL-400)
- Azure certifications
