Alteryx empowers organizations to transform data into actionable insights through analytics, automation, and AI. As a Senior Sales Engineer, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor to enterprise customers, strategic partners, and internal stakeholders, helping organizations modernize their analytics and AI strategies using the Alteryx One Platform.
Working closely with Account Executives, Partner Alliance Managers, Customer Success teams, and technical stakeholders, you will lead the technical sales process for complex opportunities, from discovery and solution design through demonstrations, proof-of-concepts, and executive presentations. You will combine deep technical expertise with strong business acumen to help customers realize measurable business outcomes through analytics automation, cloud transformation, and AI-driven innovation.
This role is ideal for a consultative technologist who thrives at the intersection of data, analytics, cloud platforms, and AI, and enjoys helping customers solve complex business challenges.
Customer & Partner Engagement
- Serve as the technical lead for enterprise and partner-led sales opportunities throughout the customer lifecycle.
- Partner with Account Executives and Partner Alliance Managers to develop account strategies, identify opportunities, and drive technical win plans.
- Build trusted advisor relationships with business and technical stakeholders, including executives, architects, data leaders, and line-of-business teams.
- Lead discovery workshops to understand customer business challenges, technical environments, analytics maturity, and AI adoption goals.
- Guide customers and partners in designing scalable analytics, automation, and AI solutions leveraging the Alteryx One Platform.
Technical Solutioning & Demonstrations
- Deliver compelling technical presentations, demonstrations, workshops, and executive briefings tailored to customer needs.
- Design and execute proof-of-concepts (POCs), pilots, and technical evaluations that demonstrate measurable business value.
- Develop solution architectures integrating Alteryx with cloud platforms, data warehouses, data lakes, AI services, and enterprise applications.
- Articulate Alteryx's competitive differentiation and effectively address technical, architectural, security, governance, and business objections.
- Advise customers on analytics modernization initiatives, including cloud migrations, self-service analytics adoption, and AI enablement strategies.
AI & Modern Data Platform Leadership
- Educate customers and partners on practical applications of AI, Generative AI, and agentic workflows within analytics and business processes.
- Help organizations operationalize AI responsibly through governance, security, observability, and compliance best practices.
- Stay current on emerging technologies and industry trends across analytics, cloud computing, data management, and artificial intelligence.
- Demonstrate how Alteryx integrates with modern cloud ecosystems including Snowflake, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, BigQuery, AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
Partner Enablement & Ecosystem Development
- Provide technical enablement and solution guidance to strategic technology, consulting, and channel partners.
- Develop and deliver partner workshops, training programs, and certification initiatives.
- Collaborate with partners to identify joint solution opportunities and develop repeatable industry-specific offerings.
- Support partner solution validation and go-to-market initiatives.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Mentor and support other Sales Engineers through knowledge sharing, coaching, and technical leadership.
- Contribute to field best practices, demo assets, technical collateral, and competitive intelligence.
- Collaborate closely with Product Management, Product Marketing, Customer Success, and Engineering teams to communicate field feedback and market trends.
- Represent Alteryx at customer events, industry conferences, webinars, and executive briefings.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in Sales Engineering, Solution Consulting, Solution Architecture, Data & Analytics Consulting, or similar customer-facing technical roles.
- Demonstrated success supporting enterprise software sales cycles and complex, multi-stakeholder opportunities.
- Strong understanding of AI, analytics, business intelligence, data engineering, automation, and data science concepts.
- Hands-on experience with SQL and at least one analytics or programming platform such as Alteryx, Python, R, Spark, or similar technologies.
- Experience designing solutions on cloud platforms including AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Familiarity with modern data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, BigQuery, Redshift, or Synapse.
- Familiarity with GenAI/AgenticAI technologies, frameworks and concepts.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and executive audiences.
- Experience leading workshops, technical presentations, demonstrations, and proof-of-concepts.
- Strong consultative, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to travel regionally as required (up to 60%).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting strategic alliances, channel partners, systems integrators, or technology ecosystem partners.
- Experience with AI, Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), agentic workflows, or AI governance frameworks.
- Experience with enterprise architecture, cloud migration initiatives, or analytics modernization programs.
- Industry certifications from AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Snowflake, Databricks, Microsoft, or similar providers.
- Experience developing executive business cases and value-driven technology recommendations.
- Experience mentoring or leading technical teams.
Industry Experience (Preferred)
Experience supporting customers in one or more of the following industries is highly desirable:
Banking, Financial Services & Insurance (BFSI)
- Risk and regulatory reporting
- Anti-money laundering (AML) and fraud analytics
- Financial crime detection
- Customer analytics and personalization
- Credit risk and underwriting
- Finance transformation and operational efficiency
- Data governance, compliance, and model risk management
