The Agile Project Manager will play a key role in coordinating and driving the successful delivery of strategic digital platform initiatives across cross-functional engineering teams. This role is responsible for facilitating agile delivery practices, managing delivery risks and dependencies, aligning stakeholders, and ensuring delivery outcomes support broader business and customer objectives. Working closely with Technical and Product Managers, Data, DevOps, QA, UX and Software Engineers, and business stakeholders, the Agile Project Manager will coordinate the execution of complex platform and product initiatives across the full software delivery lifecycle. This includes facilitating agile ceremonies, maintaining delivery transparency, and enabling effective collaboration across multiple teams and workstreams. The Agile Project Manager will also contribute to improving delivery maturity across the organisation by implementing scalable agile delivery practices, release management frameworks, etc. that support sustainable and predictable delivery outcomes.
This role will be seconded to our parent company, Hitachi Construction Machinery (HCM).
Key Deliverables and Responsibilities
- Act as an agile delivery and coordination subject matter expert (SME) within the HCM Digital Solutions team.
- Facilitate agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and program increment planning sessions.
- Coordinate delivery planning activities across short-term and long-term delivery horizons.
- Proactively identify, manage, escalate, and mitigate delivery risks, blockers, and cross-team dependencies.
- Work closely with Engineering leadership and Product Managers to align delivery priorities with business objectives and technical capabilities.
- Support the operationalisation and continuous improvement of agile delivery frameworks, release management processes, and governance practices.
- Drive transparency and reporting across delivery activities using tools such as issue trackers, dashboards, delivery metrics, and program reporting mechanisms.
- Coordinate release planning and release readiness activities across multiple teams and environments.
- Mentor and coach developers, team leads, and delivery teams on agile best practices and continuous improvement principles.
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to ensure backlog items are sufficiently refined, prioritised, and ready for delivery.
Experience and Knowledge
- Strong experience managing agile delivery across complex digital platform, software engineering, or enterprise technology environments.
- Hands-on experience facilitating agile ceremonies, program increment planning, retrospectives, and stakeholder workshops.
- Experience implementing and operationalising agile delivery frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, or hybrid agile methodologies.
- Proven experience managing delivery risks, dependencies, roadmaps, release coordination, and stakeholder communication across multiple initiatives.
- Strong experience using agile project management and reporting tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, Notion, Confluence.
- Experience establishing or improving release management, delivery governance, and agile operational processes.
- Experience mentoring engineering teams on agile deliver related best practices.
- Familiarity with software development lifecycles, DevOps practices, CI/CD processes, and cloud-native delivery environments.
- Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders across all organisational levels.
- Previous experience working in the mining domain is a plus.
