About the Role
We're looking for a hands-on Web Developer who lives and breathes PHP and WordPress to join us on a part-time basis. If you enjoy building polished websites, solving real problems with clean code, and want flexibility without the full-time grind — this role is for you.
You'll work on live projects from our office, ship improvements that users actually notice, and have direct ownership of what you build.
What You'll Do
- Write clean, efficient PHP that's easy for the next developer to pick up
- Build and maintain WordPress sites, including custom themes and plugins (not just installing pre-built ones)
- Create responsive front-ends using HTML5, JavaScript, jQuery, and Bootstrap 5.3
- Design and optimize MySQL databases — queries that don't slow the site down at scale
- Debug, troubleshoot, and improve existing code (yes, including the messy stuff)
- Keep performance, security, and scalability front of mind
- Collaborate in-person with designers, PMs, and other developers
What You Bring
Must-have:
- Solid PHP skills — you can read, write, and refactor confidently
- Strong, demonstrable WordPress development experience (custom work, not just page-builders)
- HTML5, JavaScript, jQuery, Bootstrap 5.3
- MySQL — comfortable with schema design and writing efficient queries
- Git or similar version control
- 3+ years hands-on web development
Nice to have:
- API integration experience (REST, third-party services)
- SEO fundamentals
- Web security best practices (sanitization, auth, common vulnerabilities)
Why This Role Works for You
- Flexible part-time hours — work a schedule that suits you
- Office-based — collaborate face-to-face, learn from the team, no isolation
- Real ownership — your code goes live, your decisions matter
- Variety — no two projects look the same
- Great fit if you're a developer with a day job wanting side income, a student or recent grad building experience, or a returning professional easing back in
