About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Lead Automation Architect to drive the design, implementation, and evolution of enterprise-scale test automation frameworks for critical Financial Crime (FinCrime) applications.
This is a senior technical leadership role requiring deep expertise in Playwright, automation architecture, test strategy, and CI/CD integration. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining automation standards, mentoring engineering teams, and ensuring scalable, maintainable, and high-performing automation solutions across complex enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of enterprise-grade automation frameworks using Playwright.
- Define automation standards, best practices, governance, and quality engineering strategies.
- Collaborate with business, development, testing, and DevOps teams to deliver robust automation solutions.
- Drive automation adoption across multiple squads and programs.
- Design scalable test frameworks supporting UI, API, and integration testing.
- Integrate automation frameworks into CI/CD pipelines and release processes.
- Review and improve existing automation capabilities, frameworks, and tooling.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to QA and automation engineers.
- Establish automation metrics, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support delivery of high-quality solutions within Agile environments.
Mandatory Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in Software Testing, Quality Engineering, or Test Automation.
- Minimum 4+ years of hands-on Playwright experience in enterprise environments.
- Proven experience designing and leading automation frameworks from architecture through implementation.

- Agile Delivery Methodologies
- Experience working with modern DevOps practices and automated release pipelines.
- Strong stakeholder management, leadership, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to define automation strategies for large-scale enterprise applications.
Preferred Experience
- Experience within Banking, Financial Services, or Financial Crime (FinCrime) domains.
- Previous experience working with Westpac or similar Tier-1 financial institutions.
- Exposure to cloud-native testing and enterprise-scale digital transformation programs.
Pay: $740.00 – $760.00 per day
