Employment Opportunity
Network Services supports the Attorney-General’s Department’s secure, high-availability network environment. As a Network Engineer, you will work within a technical team delivering proactive maintenance, operational support and infrastructure change across the department’s LAN, WAN, wireless, voice, video and cloud-connected services.
Key responsibilities include:

configuring, supporting and maintaining routing, switching, wireless, secure gateway, load-balancing and video-conferencing platforms
-
supporting cloud networking services in collaboration with the Cloud Operations Team and other technical stakeholders
-
monitoring network availability, connectivity and performance, troubleshooting incidents, and delivering break-fix and infrastructure refresh activities
-
developing and maintaining technical designs and support documentation, and working with stakeholders and project managers to deliver business outcomes.
The role supports tiered 24/7/365 services. Participation in an on-call roster and occasional domestic travel may be required.
How you can help us make a difference
We are seeking an experienced network engineering professional who can work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary ICT environment. The successful applicant will exercise sound judgement, take ownership of issues and deliver practical, evidence- and risk-informed solutions.
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate:

hands-on experience configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting enterprise network infrastructure, including break-fix and infrastructure refresh activities

experience using network monitoring, diagnostic and analytics tools across cloud and hardware-based networking environments
-
strong stakeholder engagement, written communication and technical documentation skills
-
the ability to manage priorities with limited supervision and collaborate across technical teams to achieve reliable service outcomes.

Experience with Cisco networking and video conferencing, Azure networking, FortiGate systems, F5 load balancers, Microsoft Teams and Webex is desirable.
Applicants must be Australian citizens and be able to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance.
Other qualifications: Relevant tertiary and/or vendor qualifications are desirable.
