Full Job Description

Front Office Technical Support Specialist

Location: Sydney, Australia
Contract: 12 Months
Work Arrangement: On-site
Work Authorization: Australian work authorization required

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Front Office Technical Support Specialist to provide dedicated on-site technology support to approximately 20 users within a financial services trading and operations environment in Sydney.

This is a hands-on L1/L2 support role suited to someone who is comfortable working directly with front-office users, troubleshooting issues under time pressure, and collaborating with regional APAC and US technology teams.

Key Responsibilities

Provide responsive, hands-on L1/L2 technical support to trading and operations users on the trading floor.
Troubleshoot and support Windows, Active Directory, SharePoint, local networks, storage, and data center infrastructure.
Support and troubleshoot user-facing tools developed using Microsoft Excel, VBA, and Python.
Build, configure, manage, and retire Linux virtual machines in accordance with standard operational procedures.
Assist with storage strategy, data migration, and knowledge transfer activities.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve infrastructure and end-user technology issues.
Escalate complex incidents and coordinate resolution with APAC and US technology teams.
Maintain clear technical documentation and follow established operational and change-management processes.

Required Skills & Experience

Previous technical support experience within financial services, preferably in a front-office, investment banking, or trading-floor environment.
Strong practical experience with:
Active Directory
Microsoft SharePoint
Local network infrastructure
Storage environments
Windows desktop/user support
Hands-on experience building and managing Linux VMs.
Practical scripting/automation experience using VBA and Python.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritize and respond effectively in a high-pressure trading environment.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work directly with traders, operations users, and technology teams.
Australian work authorization is mandatory.

Desirable Skills

Basic database support experience, including SQL and SQL estate management.
Experience supporting front-office trading platforms such as Fidessa or Triton.
Experience with storage migration projects.
Familiarity with infrastructure lifecycle management.
Experience working with distributed technology teams across APAC and the US.
