About the role and team
We have a new opportunity for a German-speaking Paralegal to join our Corporate and Commercial team in Melbourne.
At Hall & Wilcox we have the largest German law desk in Australia and have been successfully operating for many years.
Our clients are German-speaking clients from Austria, Germany and Switzerland, including many family-owned Mittelstand companies or hidden champions, as well as a number of large listed corporates. Our clients come from all industry sectors, including manufacturing, energy, technology, financial and medical.
You will work alongside a team of German trained and German-speaking lawyers, led by Oliver Jankowksy and Dr Wolfgang Babeck. We are well positioned to assist our clients mastering jurisdictional differences and Australian business practices, including in:
- M&A, corporate and commercial, and tax;
- regulatory and compliance; and
- litigation issues.
In this role, you will be responsible for assisting our Partners and lawyers on a range of matters, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, growth investments and assisting businesses from Austria, Switzerland and Germany on their market entry into Australia.
About you
You will ideally have the following skills and experience:
- at least two years of experience in a paralegal or similar position within a corporate M&A law practice;
- you must possess a very high degree of fluency in German or be a native speaker; and
- clear, concise legal writing and communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
