Your New Role and Responsibilities
Launchpad is a Leidos-developed, secure, AWS-hosted cloud platform designed to enable rapid deployment of applications and services to support day-to-day business and project needs. Built for our employees who support Defence and Federal Government customers, it provides a controlled environment with built-in security guardrails, DevSecOps tooling, and remote access capabilities.
As an Application Support Engineer, you’ll join a collaborative, technically curious team supporting our Launchpad environment.
This role is well suited to someone who already has foundational technical skills and wants to use them every day, deepen their capability, and build a long-term career in modern application support and observability.
In this role, you’ll be actively involved in the day-to-day health, performance, and improvement of applications, including:

Providing application and systems support in a Linux/Unix environment, with a strong focus on proactive monitoring and performance management.

Owning incidents end-to-end, from triage and investigation through to resolution and post-incident review.

Performing root cause analysis of application and system issues, working closely with other ITSM service towers, developers, and end users to implement sustainable fixes.

Deploying software updates, patches, and fixes in line with approved change, release, and configuration management practices.

Working across the development and support lifecycle, collaborating with others to improve the reliability, visibility, and supportability of applications.

Creating and maintaining clear operational and technical documentation
What You’ll Bring to Make an Impact
You don’t need to know everything on day one, but you will bring a solid technical foundation and a strong desire to continue learning.
Key requirements include:

Hands-on experience troubleshooting and resolving application issues in a production environment.
-
Experience supporting applications on Linux/Unix and/or Windows systems, with a strong desire to work across mixed operating system environments.
-
Working knowledge of Windows administration, including services, event logs, patching, and system performance troubleshooting.
-
Understanding of networks, protocols, and diagnostic tools used in application support.
-
Experience working within cloud environments, preferably AWS and/or Azure, including exposure to core services, networking constructs and identity/access management.
-
Familiarity with modern containerisation and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, including deployment and operational concepts.

Exposure to infrastructure-as-code and automation tooling such as Terraform and/or Ansible to support repeatable and scalable deployments.

Understanding of database technologies and data management, including basic administration, query troubleshooting, and performance considerations across relational databases.

Ability to use scripting or automation to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.

A working understanding of how applications are built, deployed, supported, and improved across their lifecycle.

Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
