Primary objective
Provide expert advice and operational support for the information technology environment hosting Library and Archives
Northern Territory (LANT) applications, to ensure agency business systems operate smoothly and without interruption to
support the needs of the business.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Work as part of a diverse, multi-disciplinary team to design, install, configure, upgrade, analyse, assess, test, manage,
maintain and monitor systems, applications, databases (object and relational) and cloud-based infrastructure including
Amazon Web Services.
2. Manage availability and capacity management activities for applications, including improving system performance and
automating operations.
3. Design, recommend and implement service quality improvements by researching and investigating IT based business
solutions, future trends and taking into consideration existing external and Northern Territory Government infrastructure
configurations, desktop operating environments, client needs and emerging technologies.
4. Support the acquisition, implementation, and delivery of ICT solutions, related business processes and services.
5. Establish, develop and maintain effective relationships/partnerships with agency staff and IT service providers to
facilitate the ongoing development and maintenance of agency business systems.
6. Develop detailed operational support documentation for business applications and services.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience in the design, assessment and implementation of high level and complex IT systems to meet
client needs, including identification of future trends and improved practices.
2. Excellent technical skills and demonstrated working knowledge of Server Operating systems (Windows and Linux based
environments), Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud-based infrastructure, databases such as Oracle and Postgres SQL,
database reporting tools, network infrastructure.
3. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, configure and support customer-facing operational technology solutions to ensure
reliable performance and positive end-user experience.
4. Highly developed oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with peers, managers, customers and
key internal and external stakeholders
5. Demonstrated experience in the development of operational support documentation to meet business needs.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, contributing to a positive customer-centric operating culture.
7. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude which emulates DCDD values of being professional, honest, accountable,
respectful and innovative.
Desirable
1. Amazon Web Services Practitioner or Operations Certification.
2. Sound understanding of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) service delivery.
3. Experience in configuration of and administration of Atlassian Jira, Atlassian Confluence, EZproxy.
