Introduction:
ACEREZ is a consortium, comprised of ACCIONA, COBRA and Endeavour Energy which has been appointed Preferred Network Operator by EnergyCo to design, deliver, operate and maintain the transmission line network for the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (CWO REZ).
The new transmission infrastructure, which will combine high-capacity transmission lines, energy hubs and related infrastructure, will enable generators such as solar and wind farms and energy storage providers in the CWO REZ to connect to the electricity grid, providing a reliable supply of clean, affordable electricity for households and businesses across NSW while helping to meet the state’s newly legislated Net Zero targets.

THE OPPORTUNITY
ACEREZ require an Operations Commissioning Engineer to take the lead on the Operations team’s commissioning responsibilities. Ensuring commissioning plans, programs, and processes are ready to enable safe and secure commissioning of the CWO REZ network, connections, and operating facilities.
The role will coordinate commissioning readiness activities across multiple internal and external stakeholders, enabling a collaborative, safe, and high confidence workflow. This is a fixed term role until October 2029, during that time you will support a significant amount of electricity transmission infrastructure and renewable generation come online.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop processes and procedures to provide a consolidated view of asset readiness and support System Operators in the safe commissioning and energisation of new assets onto our transmission network
Develop a commissioning program and plan for Network Operator including all key Network Operator commissioning activities.
Develop a test and commissioning plan for all Network Operator delivered facilities and systems.
Manage key relationships with internal commissioning staff
Liaise with Transgrid, AEMO and Energy Suppliers, to support successful commissioning activities
Support development of technical procedures
Be the operations subject matter expert for commissioning
Create the Operations Centre’s switching library for all commissioning works and planned maintenance works.
Support the development of our safety rules procedures as they relate to commissioning.
Support End User Testing and Commissioning of the SCADA/EMS system
Manage/support future operations projects
Assist with any outage planning/access planning when required
Other tasks as required to support the operations team
Skills and Experiences:
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering (or working towards)
- NEM asset commissioning experience for a TNSP or DNSP
- Ability to coordinate and influence multiple stakeholders
- Knowledge of transmission system security, HV apparatus, protection & control, operating procedures, and application of safety rules
- Outage and access planning and coordination experience
- Strong electrical safety rules knowledge and application in the NEM
- Clear and effective communication and presentation skills
- Coaching and mentoring skills and experience
