About the role
As a Senior Product Designer, you will design and improve products used across mineral processing and material handling applications.
This is a hands-on technical role combining 3D modelling, detailed drafting, engineering analysis, manufacturing support and customer-site problem-solving. You will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, sales and customers to turn operational requirements into practical, safe and manufacturable product solutions.
Reporting to the Engineering Team Lead, you will contribute to new product development, product optimisation and the ongoing improvement of engineering standards and processes.
In this role you will:
- Design new products and modifications to existing mineral processing products
- Produce 3D models, detailed drawings and manufacturing documentation
- Complete design calculations, engineering analysis and simulation where required
- Conduct site inspections, measurement and reverse-engineering activities
- Translate customer and operational requirements into practical product solutions
- Check drawings for technical accuracy, manufacturability and compliance with drafting standards
- Coordinate designs through engineering review, document release and manufacturing
- Support product installation, performance reviews and technical investigations at customer sites
- Provide technical advice to sales, manufacturing, suppliers and customers
- Contribute to engineering standards, document control and continuous improvement
- Capture and protect product knowledge and intellectual property
You will have:
- A Mechanical Engineering degree, recognised equivalent or Mechanical Engineering diploma
- Strong experience designing mechanical products for mining, mineral processing, material handling or heavy industrial applications
- Advanced 3D modelling and 2D drafting capability using NX or a comparable CAD platform
- Experience preparing manufacturing drawings and supporting products through design release and manufacture
- Sound knowledge of fabrication, casting, machining or other heavy manufacturing processes
- Strong mechanical problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Positive attitude and eagerness to learn
- The confidence to engage directly with customers, sales teams and manufacturing stakeholders
- The ability to work from our Burswood location and travel to customer sites when required
Experience with structural calculations, ANSYS or other FEA tools, DEM software, Teamcenter PLM or 3D scanning technology would be highly regarded.
