About VIDA
The Victorian Infrastructure Delivery Authority (VIDA) is a specialist project delivery organisation, responsible for delivering Victoria's major transport, health and community safety infrastructure program.
This multi-disciplinary program includes more than 200 projects including the North East Link, removing level crossings, Melbourne Airport Rail Stage 1, new and upgraded hospitals specialist programs such as the early parenting centres expansion and upgrade program and community safety projects including Corrections and Emergency Services.
The unprecedented program of works brings together expert skillsets to deliver crucial health, community safety, and major transport projects, and ensures that operations are streamlined and efficient while delivering better outcomes for Victorians.
Led by the Director-General, VIDA is comprised of the five project offices, VIDA Road, VIDA Metro, VIDA Rail, VIDA Health and VIDA Community Safety.
VIDA is established as an Administration Office under the Public Administration Act 2004 as a specialist organisation
About this Opportunity
The Paralegal provides high-quality legal and administrative support to the VIDA Community Safety Legal team, contributing to the effective delivery of legal services across a complex infrastructure portfolio. This role supports a broad range of legal, contractual and governance activities, helping to ensure matters are progressed efficiently, accurately and in line with relevant policies and frameworks.
Working closely with lawyers and internal stakeholders, you will assist with legal research, document preparation, contract and claims administration, records management, and the coordination of legal processes. Play an important role in keeping information organised, supporting reporting and compliance requirements, and helping the team manage a high volume of work across multiple matters.
Be part of a collaborative and high-performing team, with exposure to major community safety infrastructure projects that deliver meaningful outcomes for Victorian communities.
About You
A well-organised and capable legal support professional who enjoys working in a structured, fast-paced environment. Sound experience in legal administration or paralegal support, along with strong attention to detail, good judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
Confident coordinating draft documents, processes and maintaining accurate records, and you take pride in delivering high-quality work. Communicates clearly, work well with others and are comfortable supporting lawyers and stakeholders across a range of legal and administrative matters.
You'll bring:
- Experience in a paralegal or legal support role, with the ability to assist across legal, contractual and administrative tasks.
- Strong organisational skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, track actions and maintain accurate documentation.
- Well-developed written communication skills, with experience coordinating correspondence, summaries, briefs or other support documents.
- The ability to build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, project teams and external advisors.
- Sound judgement and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify issues, undertake research and escalate matters when appropriate.
- A high level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential information.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement, with a willingness to help strengthen processes, templates and document management practices.
Key Selection Criteria
- Demonstrates sound knowledge of legal support practices, contract administration and relevant government frameworks, applying this knowledge to assist with legal research, documentation and process coordination.
- Demonstrates strong organisational skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities, maintain accurate records and meet deadlines across multiple legal and administrative matters.
- Communicates clearly and professionally, preparing accurate written materials such as draft correspondence, summaries, briefs and legal support documents tailored to purpose and audience.
- Builds and maintains effective working relationships with lawyers, project teams, internal stakeholders and external advisors to support the timely delivery of legal services.
- Uses sound judgment and critical thinking to identify issues, undertake legal and factual research, and support problem-solving while recognising when matters should be escalated.
- Delivers high-quality support in accordance with established processes, maintaining accurate legal, contractual and administrative records and ensuring documentation is complete and up to date.
- Demonstrates integrity, discretion and accountability by handling sensitive and confidential information appropriately and complying with relevant legislation, policies, procedures and probity requirements.
- Contributes to continuous improvement by identifying practical ways to strengthen legal support processes, templates, document management practices and service delivery.
Qualifications and Mandatory Requirements
A relevant tertiary qualification in law, legal studies or a related discipline is desirable. Where no formal qualification is held, demonstrated experience in a paralegal or legal support role is required.
