Why this role matters
Every road, park, pipeline and piece of infrastructure tells a story—and you will be the one ensuring those stories are captured accurately, consistently and ready to support informed decision-making across Council.
As an Asset Data Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of Council’s asset data by ensuring alignment between GIS, asset management systems and supporting documentation. Working closely with internal teams and developers, you will review as-constructed submissions, digitise spatial data, and ensure all developer-contributed assets are accurately captured and meet Council’s standards.
What you will be doing:
If you enjoy working with spatial data, systems and technical documentation, this role will put your skills to work managing and improving the quality of Council’s asset information. Here’s how you’ll make your mark:
- Accurately interpret engineering drawings, development submissions and project documentation to capture asset location and attribute data within Council’s GIS system, ensuring compliance with required standards.
- Update and align asset data across GIS and asset management systems (e.g. Conquest and ESRI), resolving discrepancies through documentation review, stakeholder engagement and, where required, field verification.
- Perform regular checks and corrections to ensure asset registers, spatial data and supporting records remain accurate, complete and reliable.
- Work closely with asset custodians, development teams and external developers to clarify asset information, resolve issues and ensure smooth integration of new infrastructure into Council systems.
What you will bring:
You are not just good with data, you understand what it means for the big picture. Here is what sets you apart:
- Strong experience in GIS and asset data management, with demonstrated capability in spatial data digitisation and validation.
- Proven ability to interpret engineering drawings, as-constructed plans and development documentation
- Experience with developer-contributed assets and non-integrated GIS and AMS systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enabling you to work effectively with internal teams, contractors and a wide range of stakeholders.
- A motivated and collaborative approach, thriving in a high‑intensity, close‑knit team that consistently punches above its weight.
Bonus Points:
While not essential, we’d love to see:
- Experience working within a Council environment that has implemented ADAC (A Digital As Constructed), with an understanding of how digital as-constructed data can be structured, validated and integrated into GIS and asset management systems
- Insight into bridging manual and digital as-constructed processes, particularly where ADAC standards are not fully automated
