Our Technology team is the backbone of the business, building and maintaining the information technology infrastructure that support Coles Group. As a part of the Technology team, you get the opportunity to work through complex, challenging, meaningful problems using large data sets and new technologies to expand your skills and experience.
About the role
The ultimate objective is to deliver first-class software in an agile environment. The Senior Engineer will provide deep technical expertise and strengthen the teams technical capability to deliver on complex projects (domain specific - commerce services, BAU and support for our legacy applications). This person will have strong engineering capabilities and although retail experience is nice to have, it isn't a pre-requisite to be successful.
Experience
-
Seasoned software engineer with at least 10 years’ experience with Java and related technologies

Good exposure to Agile Scrum working environments
-
Experience working in large scale projects and heavy-traffic platforms

Deep understanding of the web topology from client to server and all components in between

Ability to drive and enforce software engineering practices

Experience in Java / Kotlin and Spring Boot desirable

Excellent analytical and problem resolution skills

Intimate knowledge of Git and code review tools

Familiar with SQL databases

Experience in a cloud environment desirable

Experience with containerisation & release pipelines desirable

Development of integration IaaS/PaaS/SaaS solutions within Azure Cloud

Code review, testing, deployment, and maintenance of platform services
