The Aboriginal Liaison Officer role sits within Social Work, ensuring culturally safe, respectful and holistic care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and families.

What you'll be doing
As an Aboriginal Liaison Officer, you will play a vital non-clinical role in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients during their hospital journey, ensuring culturally safe, coordinated and person-centred care. You will:
Advocate for Aboriginal patients and families while they receive inpatient care
Support discharge planning and continuity of care through referrals and community links
Work alongside clinical and non-clinical staff to identify and respond to patient needs
Build and maintain strong connections with local Aboriginal communities and services
Contribute to Aboriginal health programs, education initiatives and cultural safety goals

Essential Criteria:
Qualification: Holds or aspires to hold a minimum Certificate III qualification in Aboriginal Primary Health Care or a minimum Certificate III health qualification in the area of care in which the Aboriginal Health Worker works
Evidence of Diversity claim if applicable (state which category): Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander (to be confirmed at interview)
Selection Criteria:
Demonstrated skill in the analysis of complex issues, problem solving, formulating new approaches and implementing comprehensive change programs and improvement strategies, including the ability to develop and monitor outcomes
