Project Cost Controller - Greenfield Mining Project Brisbane-based | Project execution phase | Long-term opportunity through to 2028

At Axiom Project Services, you will work with a team of engineering professionals dedicated to the successful delivery of our clients’ projects. Through the provision of high-end project engineering services from estimating and cost control to the delivery of major infrastructure and resources projects, you are assured career development alongside some of the best professionals the industry has to offer.

We are seeking an experienced project cost controller to join our Brisbane-based team and support a major greenfield mining project as it moves into execution. This is an excellent opportunity to take on a key project-controls role with strong project longevity through to 2028, while building a long-term career with Axiom—recognised specialists in project controls and project delivery.

In the role, working closely with the project team and key stakeholders, you will provide accurate, timely and meaningful cost-control information to support effective project delivery and decision-making.

Your responsibilities will include:

Managing project budgets, commitments, expenditure, forecasts and accruals
Monitoring costs against approved budgets and control baselines
Preparing regular cost reports, forecasts and variance analysis
Identifying emerging cost trends, risks and opportunities
Supporting change control and cost-impact assessments
Maintaining accurate cost data and project-control records
Working collaboratively with engineering, procurement, construction and commercial teams
Providing clear cost insights and recommendations to project leadership
Supporting reporting requirements throughout the project execution lifecycle

About you: To be successful in this role, you will have:

At least eight years’ experience in project cost control within mining, resources, infrastructure or another heavy-industry environment
Demonstrated experience supporting projects during the execution phase
A relevant tertiary qualification
Strong cost reporting, forecasting and analytical capability
Experience working with a Cost Management System (CMS) or similar platform—highly regarded
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy
Well-developed communication and stakeholder-management skills
The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary project team
Brisbane-based availability
