Details: The ACT Courts and Tribunal (ACTCT) is seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably experienced and capable officers for the role of Executive Director, ACTCT Modernisation Program (Executive Level 1.1).
Reporting to the Executive Branch Manager, Corporate and Strategic Services, this role will lead the ACTCT Modernisation Program and drive significant organisational transformation across court and tribunal services. The position is responsible for designing and delivering the next phase of the Modernisation Program, ensuring reforms are aligned with ACTCT's strategic priorities and support contemporary, efficient and user-centred service delivery.
The successful applicant will provide strategic leadership across a complex program of work encompassing business reform, digital transformation, organisational change, governance, and stakeholder engagement. Working closely with the ACTCT Executive, Heads of Jurisdiction, judicial officers, tribunal members and key government stakeholders, the Executive Director will play a critical role in modernising court and tribunal operations and building organisational capability in a digital environment.

Key Responsibilities: The Executive Director will:

Lead the design and delivery of Phase Two of the ACTCT Modernisation Program.

Provide strategic advice to the ACTCT Executive and governance committees on transformation priorities, risk, organisational readiness and benefits realisation.

Lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver sustainable transformation outcomes.

Drive service, business and legislative reform initiatives that improve court and tribunal operations.

Lead change management and stakeholder engagement activities across ACTCT.

Establish and maintain effective governance, assurance, procurement, financial management and reporting arrangements.

Build strong partnerships across ACTCT, JACS, Digital Canberra, the broader ACT Government and justice sector stakeholders.

Foster a high-performing, inclusive and collaborative workplace culture.

Court or tribunal experience is highly desirable.
Eligibility: This opportunity is open to suitably qualified officers who can demonstrate the executive capabilities required for an Executive Level 1.1 position within the ACT Public Service.

Remuneration: The position attracts a remuneration package ranging from $244,551 - $252,081 depending on current superannuation arrangements of the successful applicant. This includes a cash component of $252,081.
Contract: The successful applicant will be engaged under a performance-based short-term contract from October 2026 until 30 June 2028.
