The Opportunity:
We're seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Tax Analyst to join our Australia Finance team based in Brisbane. You have a solid foundation in Australian corporate tax, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a keen interest in expanding your experience in international and cross-border tax matters.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you'll play a critical role in managing tax reporting, compliance, and tax governance across the Australasian Business Unit, and its international project locations, including Papua New Guinea, India, and Indonesia.
The role collaborates with internal teams, including the Global Tax and Corporate Reporting teams in Vancouver, and external advisors to ensure that tax reporting and compliance obligations across multiple jurisdictions are met accurately and on time. The Senior Tax Analyst also helps manage tax risk and tax costs and provides practical insights to support operational and strategic decision-making across the KCB group.
What You Will Do
As a Senior Tax Analyst at KCB, you will:
Prepare and review Australian and international corporate income tax returns and related compliance obligations, including GST/VAT, withholding taxes and fringe benefits tax.
Prepare local and international transactional analyses, tax workbooks, book-to-tax reconciliations and supporting schedules for KCB entities in Australia and other jurisdictions.
Prepare quarterly and annual tax reporting, including current and deferred tax calculations, tax accruals, forecasts and financial statement support.
Conduct domestic and international tax research, including tax legislation, treaties and cross-border tax risk assessments.
Review proposals and contracts for tax implications, including withholding tax, permanent establishment and GST/VAT considerations.
Assist with international and cross-border tax matters, including transfer pricing, intercompany transactions and foreign reporting obligations.
Maintain the tax compliance schedule and contribute to improvements in tax systems, processes, governance and controls.
Contribute to tax planning initiatives and the use of automation and emerging technology within the tax function.
What You Bring:
A degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or a related discipline.
CA or CPA qualification (or near completion).
4+ years of tax accounting experience in industry or public practice.
Strong foundation in Australian corporate tax, indirect tax and related compliance obligations; international tax experience is preferred.
Experience working with multiple legal entities, international operations and foreign currencies.
Sound technical knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, tax accounting and financial reporting.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills; experience with BST11 or a similar ERP system is an asset.
Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to continuous improvement and emerging technologies.
