The Cross River Rail Delivery Authority is building a new 10.2km rail line that includes 5.9km of twin tunnels running under the Brisbane River and CBD; with four new underground stations at Boggo Road, Woolloongabba, Albert Street and Roma Street.
Once complete, it will provide trains with a much-needed alternative rail path through the core of the current SEQ Rail network, unlocking a bottleneck and allowing more trains to run more often across the whole of South East Queensland.
The Cross River Rail Delivery Authority is also delivering multiple supporting projects and activities in conjunction with the Department of Transport and Main Roads. These include accessibility rebuilds for eight surface stations, construction of three new stations on the Gold Coast; upgrades for stabling yards; track works and surface rail enhancements; and the introduction of a new ETCS digital signalling system.
About the Role
The Senior Data Analyst sits within the Data and Reporting Services team and is responsible for delivering business intelligence, analytics and reporting capabilities, including database management, data analytics, Power BI reporting, dashboard development and data governance.
This role provides leadership and mentoring to team members and contributes to the development of the organisation’s data strategy and analytics capability.
You will play a key role in transforming data into actionable insights, enabling evidence-based decision making and supporting project reporting across the organisation.
This opportunity is offered as a temporary full-time position with possible extension until 30 September 2028
Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into BI solutions including dashboards, reports and data models

Develop and maintain Power BI reports ensuring data accuracy, consistency and quality control

Analyse complex datasets to identify trends, patterns and insights and communicate findings clearly

Integrate data from multiple sources, including APIs, to provide a unified view for reporting and analysis

Design and develop interactive dashboards, reports and visualisations

Work across the end-to-end data lifecycle including data ingestion, transformation, analysis and stakeholder reporting

Utilise SQL, ETL processes and data manipulation techniques to support data extraction, transformation and reporting

Engage across a broad stakeholder group to provide insights and align solutions to business objectives

Implement data quality checks, validation and monitoring processes

Maintain documentation of data sources, transformations and methodologies

Provide training, support and mentoring to team members and end users

Stay current with industry trends and propose innovative solutions to improve analytics capability
About You:
-
Proven experience (8+ years) in data analysis, business intelligence and data visualisation
- Strong expertise in Power BI / Microsoft Fabric and data visualisation tools
- Experience building dashboards, reporting solutions, data models and integrations across multiple data sources
- Demonstrated ability to work across the full data lifecycle from data ingestion and transformation through to insight generation and stakeholder use
- Advanced technical capability across programming and query languages such as SQL, Python, DAX, VBA and PL/SQL, along with tools including Power BI, Databricks and Apache Spark, and database environments such as Azure, SQL Server, Oracle, SAP and DB2
- Strong understanding of data modelling concepts and ETL processes
- Experience working with project systems such as Primavera P6, PRISM, ARM, Consultation Manager and InEight
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on data-driven decision making
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including mentoring and developing team capability
- Tertiary qualifications in data science, IT, statistics or related field (desirable)
- Experience in large-scale infrastructure or project environments – (Rail highly desirable)
