The Highlights
As a part of the Site team, you will play a pivotal role in our immersive experience by maintaining venue quality, cleanliness, organisation and functionality. This role oversees all on-site deliveries and warehouse storage and requires strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude to address venue malfunctions — including issues with temperature control, weather conditions, power and plumbing.
Specific Duties – Site Supervisor
- Health and Safety
- Adhere to all Work Health and Safety standards and relevant WHS Legislation.
- Ensure the preservation of public property and the natural environment.
- Work within your skills, knowledge, training and experience, or under proper supervision.
- Conduct safety checks on all tools, plant and access equipment before use.
- Be aware of health and safety risks on site and follow site rules and procedures.
- Report any risks or significant ongoing hazards promptly to the Site / Production Manager.
- Clean as you go, dispose of waste correctly, use tools correctly and wear adequate PPE.
- Identify and assist in completing reports for on-site incidents, hazards or near misses.
- Collaborate and respond to feedback to eliminate identified hazards and maintain a safe work environment.
- Be familiar with and adhere to the Emergency Management Plan.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness and compliance among all employees.
- Attend all safety briefings and training sessions as required.
- Site Supervision
- Open the site and venue each morning, ensuring all site elements are operational and functioning correctly.
- Act as the responsible key holder, securing the venue and site each night and ensuring it is locked and protected for overnight security.
- Ensure all staff are offsite each evening unless directed otherwise by the Site Manager.
- Oversee the delivery, loading and unloading of goods, trucks, various delivery vehicles and shipping containers.
- Operate plant and access equipment as needed; delegate duties appropriately, including briefing designated operators.
- Conduct regular safety checks to ensure the safe operation of all plant and access equipment.
- Monitor sound levels to ensure compliance with prescribed limits.
- Maintain cleanliness and functionality of welfare amenities.
- Implement the waste management plan.
- Complete site safety checklists and daily maintenance tasks.
- Perform ongoing maintenance of plumbing and power infrastructure.
- Conduct general maintenance and organisation of site and venue equipment.
- Implement and oversee traffic control measures, including VMS boards and traffic controllers.
- Perform periodic inspections of rigging and power equipment.
- Prepare and submit daily site reports and end-of-season reports.
- Team Supervision
- Supervise and facilitate communication within the Production Crew, ensuring the completion of tasks and objectives set by line managers.
- Contribute to the creation of daily task lists, ensuring the crew takes appropriate breaks and maintains productivity.
- Assist with rostering and approving timesheets.
- Coordination with Production Management
- Collaborate with Site Management to ensure site plans are accurate and up to date.
- Oversee the installation and maintenance of site infrastructure.
- Update operational procedures as agreed with the Site Manager.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration
- Troubleshoot and address venue or site-related issues as they arise.
- Assist other departments with deliveries and other site-related tasks.
- Coordinate with other departments to assist with problem-solving.
- Liaise regularly with other supervisors and departments for additional tasks during quieter periods.
- Organisation & Inventory
- Assist with equipment inventory; label HVK equipment, assets and set pieces as directed by Site Management.
- Contribute to creating a storage map for all materials and equipment for the season.
- Support the Production Management team in developing and conducting equipment inventory and managing materials according to seasonal procedures.
- Tool Management & Site Neatness
- Maintain cleanliness of welfare amenities throughout each shift.
- Ensure the workshop area is tidy and organised, with equipment returned to its assigned location each day.
- Clean the working area as you complete each section.
- Note: HVK will provide all necessary tools for completing tasks. Personal tools are not required; however, you are welcome to bring your own at your own risk.
- Build / Dark Day / Maintenance & Repair
- Assist build activities as directed by the site management team, including but not limited to lifting, carrying, painting, installation of site infrastructure, décor, furniture, general maintenance, unloading trucks, rigging of flown elements, plumbing infrastructure, basic carpentry and assisting technical staff with lighting, sound and AV equipment.
- Maintain and repair equipment according to manufacturer recommendations and specifications, ensuring equipment is kept in optimal working condition.
- Perform additional functions incidental to installation activities, such as equipment maintenance and repair tasks.
- Assist in planning for dark days and maintenance shifts as required.
- Update and oversee the maintenance schedule, including coordinating with external contractors and managing deliveries.
- Coordinate and assist with the installation and de-rigging of site infrastructure.
- Skills & Qualifications
- Required
- Valid Forklift licence with 2+ years’ experience operating forklifts and telehandlers.
- Valid General Construction Induction (White Card).
- Knowledge of Australian Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation and site safety practices.
- Proficiency in conducting pre- and post-operation checks on machinery, ensuring proper functionality and safety compliance.
- Knowledge of safe operating procedures and protocols for tools and machinery commonly used in event production.
- Prior experience in event production, stage setup or related fields.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, following instructions and collaborating with colleagues.
- Capable of performing manual labour tasks for extended periods, including lifting heavy equipment and working in various weather conditions.
- Clear verbal and basic written communication skills.
- Ability to quickly learn new tasks, adapt to changing project requirements and work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
- Skilled at anticipating and resolving issues, maintaining a calm and solution-focused approach under pressure.
- Ability to follow instructions precisely and complete inspection logbooks and maintenance records accurately.
- Dependable and punctual, with a commitment to meeting project deadlines and schedules.
- Desirable
- Valid EWP licence with 2+ years’ experience operating boom/scissor/vertical lifts in an event or festival environment.
- Broad knowledge of plumbing and power infrastructure.
- Basic knowledge of general networking, lighting, audio and projection systems.
- Basic understanding of rigging.
- Familiarity with technical terminology commonly used in event production.
- Willingness to undergo additional training or certification as required for specialised equipment or machinery.
Specific Duties – Site Crew
- Coordinating with Production Management team:
- Assist site management in completing site safety checklists and daily fixups.
- Help conduct equipment inventory and ensure all materials and equipment are labelled correctly.
- Assist in maintaining a storage area of all the materials and equipment we own for the season.
- Site Maintenance:
- Loading and unloading trucks and other various delivery vehicles.
- Loading and unloading of shipping containers.
- Ongoing maintenance of plumbing infrastructure.
- Ongoing maintenance of power infrastructure.
- General maintenance and organising of site equipment.
- Assist with traffic management. i.e. trucks, people, bikes.
- Lifting and carrying.
- Using a variety of equipment to build/unbuild exhibition elements.
- Operate or work from mobile elevated work platforms under 11m if qualified to do so.
- Perform routine cleaning of site infrastructure, paths, and guest areas to ensure a professional presentation.
- Props & Set Maintenance:
- Furniture,
- Flats and other theatrical set elements,
- Flooring including carpet, vinyl, and other floor coverings,
- Props,
- Signage,
- Paint, cladding, and other scenic treatments.
- Cleaning and restoring scenic elements, props, and décor to maintain high presentation standards.

Pay: $33.84 – $51.55 per hour
