What are we looking for?
Our Land Rights, Disputes & Advisory team are seeking a paralegal to provide support to our team in Melbourne on a casual basis.
Our Land Rights team targets a range of work: for claimants in Compulsory Acquisition matters around the country; work with First Nations organisations on Native Title and other advice; advice and dispute work for other Not for Profit organisations and Climate and Environment Litigation.
You will be working to drive strategies and provide legal and administrative assistance across these areas but with a primary focus on our Climate and Environment work.

Work in a supportive team environment, supporting legal analysis and practice building. Your duties and responsibilities will include:

Undertaking legal research, analysis and drafting to support case development on investigations and matters

Assist in the practice management of our climate and environment lawyers, including by contributing to high standards and consistency in a growing team

Provide support to the team for business development and client relationship activities

Monitor our website and drive updates as needed, including drafting web content and coordinating with our digital team

Managing new client enquiries and taking instructions

Prepare reports and updates to team as a whole
This position will be on a casual basis up to 4 days per week.

We are looking for:

Previous experience in legal research, analysis, and drafting (ideally in academic or firm-based roles)

A natural interest in addressing climate change using the law, as well as land disputes, not-for-profit and environmental work

Exceptional written communication skills

Critical attention to detail, effective time management skills and self-drive

Excellent team collaboration skills, including the ability to stay across systems and ‘manage up’ when working with busy lawyers
