As we continue our transformation journey, we are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Head of Digital & Data to lead our technology, cyber security and resilience, data and AI functions.
Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring Foundation Education Group has the technology foundations, cyber resilience, data capability and digital innovation required to support continued growth and operational excellence.

About the Role
The Head of Digital & Data is responsible for leading Foundation Education Group’s Digital & Data function, including IT operations, cyber security, infrastructure, cloud services, data strategy, artificial intelligence and technology governance.
You will provide strategic leadership while remaining close to the technology, working with internal teams and external partners to deliver reliable services, strong cyber security outcomes and innovative solutions that improve business performance and student outcomes.
Leading the AI & Data Lead and DevOps Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping FEG’s technology landscape and ensuring new systems delivered through transformation initiatives are successfully embedded into business-as-usual operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute Foundation Education Group’s Digital & Data strategy, roadmap and investment priorities aligned to organisational objectives.
- Establish and oversee enterprise architecture, technology governance and strategic technology planning across the organisation.
- Lead IT operations and service delivery across infrastructure, cloud environments, end-user services and core business systems.
- Ensure the availability, reliability and performance of technology platforms supporting students, staff and regulatory reporting obligations.
- Own FEG’s cyber security strategy, operational resilience and risk management framework.
- Lead cyber incident response planning, third-party risk management, privacy obligations and security improvement initiatives.
- Establish and maintain technology recovery, business continuity and operational resilience capabilities, including recovery objectives and disaster recovery planning.
- Provide executive leadership and oversight of FEG’s data and AI strategy, supporting the development of modern data, analytics and AI capabilities.
- Oversee the digital platforms that underpin student, customer and employee experiences.
- Manage the Digital & Data budget, including cloud services, software licensing, infrastructure and technology investment.
- Lead vendor, managed service provider and technology partner relationships (such as MSPs), ensuring strong commercial performance and value for money.
- Drive technology vendor rationalisation and optimisation initiatives to reduce complexity and improve efficiency.
- Lead, mentor and develop the Digital & Data team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation and continuous improvement.
- Partner closely with transformation and business leaders to support successful delivery of strategic technology initiatives.
- Assume operational ownership of new technology solutions transitioned into business-as-usual operations following project delivery.
- Contribute as a senior leader within the organisation, providing technology expertise and strategic advice to executive stakeholders.
What You’ll Bring
- Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
- Relevant certifications in cloud technologies, cyber security, IT service management or related fields will be highly regarded.
- Significant experience leading IT operations, infrastructure, cloud services, cyber security and technology teams.
- Demonstrated success developing and executing technology strategies within complex or regulated environments.
- Strong understanding of cyber security frameworks, privacy obligations, risk management and operational resilience.
- Experience managing enterprise technology environments including cloud platforms, SaaS ecosystems and managed service providers.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience managing technology budgets, vendor portfolios and technology investment decisions.
- Demonstrated capability leading data, analytics and AI initiatives at an executive level.
- Hands-on technical experience with system administration, automation, scripting or infrastructure technologies.
- Proven leadership capability with experience building, mentoring and leading high-performing teams.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of an organisation.
- Experience within the education, vocational education, training or regulated sectors will be highly regarded.
