About the Opportunity
Are you excited by the challenge of managing a digital network that powers over 1,000 physical stores and massive logistics distribution centres across Australia and New Zealand?
We are seeking a hands-on Senior Edge Infrastructure Platform Engineer to join our Edge Infrastructure Platform team. In this role, you will bridge the gap between abstract technical blueprints and real-world system delivery. Treating our vast physical footprint as a Cloud-Native Product, you will write the automation, build the pipelines, and deploy the container environments that keep our distributed edge nodes secure, optimised, and exceptionally reliable.
What You'll Do
- Hands-on Platform Deployment: Provision, configure, and operate core edge compute nodes and single-node cluster patterns leveraging Red Hat OpenShift and enterprise Linux.
- Drive Infrastructure Automation: Write and govern crisp, maintainable Ansible playbooks and declarative GitOps pipelines (Azure Pipelines, GitHub Actions) to automate software delivery to the edge of our network.
- Secure the Supply Chain: Embed automated security perimeters, host hardening standards, and vulnerability scanning directly into infrastructure deployment tracks.
- Implement IoT & Integration: Support high-velocity data ingestion pathways, optimising distributed messaging protocols (MQTT, CoAP) and connections to Azure IoT Hub.
- Orchestrate Mobility Systems: Deploy and support ruggedised retail Android device solutions, managing configurations and profiles within the Omnissa MDM platform.
- Resolve Complex Anomalies: Deliver high-tier technical support and performance tuning across our distributed container and VM estates.
What You'll Bring
- The Pedigree: 5+ years of progressive platform engineering, systems administration, or DevOps delivery experience.
- Fleet Management Scale: A proven background managing, patching, and upgrading multi-site infrastructure environments or highly distributed networks.
- Deep Code & Pipeline Expertise: Advanced capability building automated CI/CD frameworks alongside extensive practical experience writing dry, reusable Ansible automation.
- Core Tech Authority: Direct engineering familiarity with edge host provisioning, minimal Linux server lifecycles, and container internals.
