The CDP Architect is responsible for defining and delivering Tealium-led customer data and CDP solutions that enable governed first-party data collection, identity resolution, audience segmentation, real-time activation, and customer experience use cases. They bridge business requirements, data strategy, and technical implementation, ensuring Tealium solutions are scalable, compliant, integrated, and aligned to client objectives while remaining aware of where other CDP capabilities may be relevant.
The role combines strategic advisory with hands-on Tealium solution design, helping clients define how customer data should be captured, standardised, enriched, stitched, stored, and activated across the Tealium Customer Data Hub, adjacent CDP platforms where applicable, and the wider martech ecosystem.
Job Duties:
Client advisory, Tealium and CDP strategy
- Advise clients on Tealium-led CDP strategy, governance, operating models, and roadmaps.
- Facilitate discovery across data collection, identity, consent, activation, and integration needs.
- Translate business goals, journeys, and measurement strategies into practical Tealium-first solution plans.
- Assess existing Tealium, CDP, martech, and data landscapes for maturity, gaps, and scalability.
Tealium solution design and architecture
- Design end-to-end Tealium architectures across iQ, EventStream, AudienceStream, DataAccess, data sources, and connectors.
- Define data layers, event specifications, schemas, identity/visitor stitching, enrichments, audiences, and activation patterns.
- Specify integrations with CRM, MAP, analytics, data warehouse, consent, media, ecommerce, mobile app, and other CDPs where relevant.
- Produce clear architecture artefacts, data/event designs, connector mappings, and delivery guidance.
Delivery leadership and implementation guidance
- Guide delivery teams through Tealium configuration, integration, QA, release, and optimisation.
- Provide hands-on design input across profiles, libraries, tags, extensions, audiences, connectors, APIs, and environments.
- Identify risks such as data quality, consent, duplicate events, identity gaps, tag bloat, and connector limitations; recommend practical fixes.
Stakeholder alignment
- Translate between marketing, analytics, privacy/legal, data engineering, developers, and delivery teams.
- Align audience strategy, campaign orchestration, data governance, and consent enforcement with Tealium capabilities.
- Help clients move from fragmented tag, CDP, and activation processes to governed, real-time customer data operations.
Pre-sales and capability development
- Support proposals, estimates, solution shaping, platform assessments, and CDP maturity reviews.
- Develop reusable Tealium/CDP patterns, QA checklists, data layer templates, and governance models.
- Mentor consultants and stay current on Tealium releases, certifications, partner ecosystem, and CDP market trends.
Qualifications
Tealium and CDP platform expertise
- Deep experience with Tealium Customer Data Hub, including iQ, EventStream, AudienceStream, DataAccess, and connector-based activation.
- Strong understanding of CDP concepts, including data collection, identity resolution, consent, enrichment, segmentation, and activation.
- Experience designing enterprise Tealium solutions across web, mobile, server-side, offline, and cloud data sources.
- Working knowledge of other CDPs or composable customer data architectures, including how they integrate or coexist with Tealium.
- Able to communicate technical data and platform concepts clearly to business and technical stakeholders.
- Strong workshop facilitation, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Education and experience
- Significant experience, typically 6+ years, across Tealium, CDPs, tag management, analytics, data integration, or martech platforms.
- Experience in consulting, digital delivery, enterprise technology, analytics implementation, or customer data environments preferred.
- Demonstrated experience leading architecture or technical design for complex Tealium or customer data implementations.
