About the Opportunity We are currently scaling our delivery capability within a high-impact data migration program for a major enterprise client. With an upcoming transition in solution architecture capacity, we are bringing in high-potential junior and graduate resources to support delivery across our AWS platform.
Through the FinXL Associate Program, this opportunity offers an excellent pathway to potential permanency with the client. We are hiring for two distinct pathways, allowing you to focus on either the engineering or analytics side of the data lifecycle.
Role Purpose: Support the data engineering function across ingestion, transformation, and data pipeline execution within an AWS-based data platform.
What you will do:
Assist in building and maintaining data pipelines (S3 to PostgreSQL/staging layers).
Support data ingestion using tools such as AWS DMS, Glue or Python-based scripts.
Work closely with senior data engineers to implement transformation logic (dbt or SQL-based).
Perform data validation, reconciliation, and basic troubleshooting.
Support the handling of complex data types (e.g., BLOBs, large datasets).
Contribute to documentation of pipelines, mappings, and transformation rules.
What you need:
Foundational knowledge of SQL and data structures.
Exposure to Python (pandas, basic scripting).
Basic understanding of AWS (S3, Glue, Lambda - even academic exposure is fine).
Understanding of data pipeline concepts (ETL/ELT, staging, transformations).
Familiarity with PostgreSQL or relational databases.
Role Purpose: Support data analysis, quality engineering, and modelling activities to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and alignment with business requirements.
What you will do:
Assist in data modelling, mapping, data profiling, and source-to-target analysis.
Support data quality checks, reconciliation, and defect identification.
Work with business and technical teams to understand data requirements.
Contribute to logical data modelling (entities, relationships, attributes).
Support test case creation and execution for data validation.
Help document business rules, transformation logic, and assumptions.
What you need:
Strong SQL skills (querying, joins, validation).
Understanding of data modelling concepts (entities, relationships).
Exposure to data quality or testing frameworks.
Basic understanding of data migration or reporting environments.
Familiarity with Excel / data analysis tools.
For both roles, the focus is on fast learners with a strong attitude and adaptability, who can work closely with senior engineers and quickly become productive contributors. We prioritise:
Strong learning mindset: Ability to ramp up quickly in a complex environment.
Adaptability & flexibility: Comfortable working across multiple areas.
Ownership mindset: Takes accountability for tasks, follows through.
Strong communication skills: Able to engage with both technical and business stakeholders.
Team player: Ability to work closely within a team, especially under the guidance of senior engineers.
