Looking for a Clinical Nurse Educator working at GEO Healthcare Head Office.
Full Time position located in Melbourne CBD with a Salary of $113,339.00 + Super.
About the role
The Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for supporting the clinical education needs of staff at the service location through the development and delivery of education and for identifying learning needs of staff members in conjunction with individual staff and
managers which align with GEO Healthcare service goals.
A Full-Time role working 5 days per week in office (or onsite as appropriate) in Melbourne CBD, overseeing multiple locations across Victoria.
Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate will have:
- Provides episodic and ongoing clinical education/nursing practice in accordance with legislation, GEO Healthcare’s clinical policies and procedures including demonstrating advanced knowledge and practice in contemporary nursing practice and theory relevant to Primary Health Care in the Correctional setting
- Develop, implement and evaluate service orientation program in collaboration with Health Service Manager and clinical staff
- Initiate, participate and contribute to the development of clinical knowledge and skills of new and existing nurses
- Implement and evaluate clinical education programs and in-service for clinical staff
- Educate, support and supervise nursing students, employed staff and agency staff working in the Health Centre, via the delivery of formal and informal education
- Develop and maintain clinical educational resources
- Coordinate and participate in orientations at site
- Identify individual learning needs of nurses in consultation with the nurse, the Health Service Manager and other staff (as appropriate)
- Perform clinical assessments of nurses and provide certification of competency where required
- Develop, implement and evaluate extended skills programs for nurses in collaboration with the Health Services Manager and other relevant stakeholders
- Maintain education records to ensure compliance with mandatory competencies
- Complying with Occupational Health and Safety and Equal Employment Opportunity legislative requirements
- Recognise and understand the pertinent and emerging clinical education issues within the correctional nursing and education environments
- Actively participate in the development and review of policies, procedures and clinical guidelines
- Identifying and implementing quality improvement initiatives and participating in accreditation activities
Key Selection Criteria:
- Division 1 Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
- A relevant qualification in adult education
- Relevant clinical experience in acute nursing, primary health care and/or mental health
- Understanding of teaching and learning in the healthcare environment
- Excellent interpersonal and effective communication skills enabling constructive evaluation of performance and feedback to staff
- Experience developing, delivering and evaluating education sessions and programs
- Demonstrated clinical teaching and facilitation skills
Other Requirements of the role:
- Valid and current full Australian driver’s licence.
- Ability to work within a correctional setting, which will involve direct contact with prisoners associated with the delivery of healthcare.
- Satisfactory completion of a National Criminal History Check.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Working outside of ordinary business hours may be required.
