Launch Your Engineering Career in Oil & Gas
Are you a recently graduated chemical engineer ready to build real-world expertise across some of the Asia-Pacific region's most dynamic upstream oil and gas projects? Apogee is seeking a motivated Graduate Chemical Engineer to join our Perth-based team.
About Apogee
Apogee Australia is a Perth-based engineering consultancy specialising in project management and engineering services for the upstream oil and gas sector. With offices in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, we deliver technical leadership and project execution support to operators across the Asia-Pacific region.
Our work spans greenfield project development, brownfield asset management, and base business operations. We embed experienced engineers within client organisations to provide hands-on technical support - and we are committed to growing the next generation of engineers who will do the same.
The Role
Working under the guidance of Senior Process Engineers, you will contribute to the technical design, analysis, and optimisation of chemical and process systems across a diverse portfolio of active client projects. This role offers genuine mentoring, clear career progression pathways, and exposure to the full spectrum of process engineering activities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing, reviewing, and maintaining process engineering deliverables including PFDs, P&IDs, equipment datasheets, and technical reports
- Performing engineering calculations — mass and energy balances, fluid flow, relief valve sizing, and equipment sizing
- Developing simulation models using industry-standard software (e.g. Aspen HYSYS or equivalent)
- Evaluating alternative process options against safety, cost, reliability, risk, and operability criteria
- Supporting procurement activities including technical evaluations, vendor clarifications, and purchase requisitions
- Contributing to process safety and risk assessment activities including HAZID and HAZOP reviews
- Supporting management of change (MOC) activities and technical reviews
- Collaborating across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, reservoir, and drilling disciplines
- Assisting with identification and assessment of environmental and pollution control considerations

- Up to 2 years' experience in an engineering, production, or project-based environment
- Sound understanding of core process engineering principles
- Familiarity with engineering documentation and technical workflows
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills
Desirable:
- Experience with engineering simulation software (e.g. Aspen HYSYS)
- Exposure to operating facilities or site-based engineering support
- Knowledge of relevant engineering standards and regulatory frameworks
You'll thrive here if you are:
- Technically sharp with a genuine willingness to keep learning
- Detail-oriented and committed to safe engineering practices
- A clear communicator — written and verbal
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Professional, proactive, and adaptable
