As the Electrical Team Leader at InfraBuild, based at our Newcastle Rod Mill, you will lead a team of electrical tradespeople to deliver reliable, cost-effective equipment that supports our 24/7 steel production. This is a hands-on leadership role where your focus will be on safety, team performance, and process excellence.
You’ll play a key role in:
- Leading the electrical maintenance team to meet or exceed production goals
- Developing and implementing effective maintenance strategies and improvement initiatives
- Ensuring equipment reliability, process efficiency, and compliance with quality and safety standards
- Coaching, mentoring, and developing your team to grow capability and performance
- Monitoring performance, analysing data, and driving continuous improvement
- Managing workforce planning including rosters, attendance, leave, and recruitment
- Building a strong safety culture through toolbox meetings, safety audits, and incident management
- Overseeing equipment strategies, spares management, and maintenance cost control
This is a dynamic role for someone who thrives in heavy manufacturing environments, enjoys leading a team, and can balance reactive problem-solving with proactive planning.
We’re looking for a confident, hands-on leader with a proven track record in electrical maintenance leadership. You’ll need to be resilient, approachable, and motivated to deliver results while supporting your team.
To be successful, you will bring:
- Certified Electrical Trade qualification or Electrical Engineering diploma
- Experience leading or supervising a team of electrical tradespeople, ideally in a unionised environment
- Knowledge of 24/7 continuous manufacturing operations
- Heavy industry or steel manufacturing experience highly regarded
- Strong understanding of maintenance processes, equipment reliability, and improvement strategies
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work across all levels of the organisation
- Commitment to safety, compliance, and team development
- Ability to manage workforce planning, recruitment, and succession planning
