About the Role
The Community Projects Coordinator – Nauiyu is a leadership role responsible for site recovery, coordinating, and delivering community projects that create meaningful opportunities for participants while supporting the ongoing recovery of the Nauiyu community.
Following significant flooding in the Daly River region earlier this year, this role sits at the centre of community recovery, workforce development, and stakeholder engagement. Working closely with community members, Traditional Owners, local organisations, government agencies, and employers, the position will help rebuild community infrastructure, strengthen local connections, and create pathways to employment and participation.
Leading a team of Project Supervisors and School Nutrition Program staff, the role is responsible for delivering high-quality, culturally safe projects that align with community priorities while ensuring Ironbark meets its Remote Australia Employment Services (RAES) program obligations and strategic objectives.
This is a unique opportunity to lead meaningful recovery initiatives, strengthen community resilience, and create lasting outcomes for the people of Nauiyu.
This is an outreach position based in Nauiyu Monday (drive in) to Friday (drive out) with accommodation provided during the week.
In this role, you will:
- Lead and develop a team of Project Supervisors and support staff, creating a positive, accountable and collaborative team culture.
- Coordinate community projects that build skills, confidence and pathways to employment for local participants.
- Drive recovery and rebuilding initiatives, including site restoration, community clean-up activities, infrastructure improvements and workforce development projects.
- Build strong, respectful relationships with community members, Traditional Owners, local organisations, government agencies, training providers and employers.
- Identify opportunities to connect recovery activities with meaningful employment, training and economic participation outcomes.
- Oversee project planning, budgets, compliance, reporting and risk management to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and effectively.
- Support the design and delivery of culturally appropriate programs that reflect community priorities and aspirations.
- Represent Ironbark across the region, strengthening partnerships and collaboration to support long-term community recovery and resilience.
- Champion participant engagement and mentoring strategies that encourage attendance, participation and successful transitions into employment.
Why this role matters
The Nauiyu community is entering an important stage of recovery and renewal. This role provides an opportunity to work alongside community members and regional partners to support recovery efforts while creating practical pathways to employment and participation.
More than a project delivery role, this position is about strengthening relationships, rebuilding community connections, developing local capability, and ensuring recovery efforts create sustainable long-term benefits for the community.
The successful candidate will play a key role in helping shape the future of community projects in Nauiyu and supporting positive outcomes for individuals, families and the wider community.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing teams.
- Strong community engagement and stakeholder relationship management skills.
- Experience coordinating projects, programs, construction, maintenance, community development or workforce initiatives.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities, budgets, compliance requirements and project deadlines.
- Strong communication, administration and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with Aboriginal communities and an understanding of culturally safe and respectful engagement practices.
- The ability to work independently and effectively in a remote community environment.
Highly regarded:
- Experience in disaster recovery, community recovery or resilience-building initiatives.
- Experience within the Community Development Program (CDP), Remote Australia Employment Service (RAES), employment services or workforce development programs.
- Project management qualifications or significant experience delivering complex community-based projects.
What we offer:
Salary and Benefits: Generous remuneration package including 5 weeks annual leave with 17.5% leave loading and salary packaging benefits.
Accommodation and Lifestyle Support: Accommodation provided while working in community, a fully maintained vehicle with home garaging, wellbeing initiatives and generous leave entitlements.
Purpose-Driven Work: Be part of a values-led organisation supporting community recovery, workforce development and meaningful change.

Are you ready to help rebuild and strengthen a community?
