Design & Engineering
CPP has the largest in-house design and engineering team of any contractor in Australia, with over 170 specialists across Electrical Primary and Secondary, Civil, Structural, and SCADA disciplines. We provide end-to-end engineering solutions for high-voltage infrastructure, including nationally significant transmission projects, HV substations, wind farms and battery storage systems that drive Australia’s renewable energy transition.
Our engineers work closely with construction and operations teams, ensuring designs are practical, constructible, and continually refined through real-world feedback. With a commitment to innovation and excellence, we deliver solutions that support a stable, reliable, and sustainable energy future.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Drafter - Secondary to join our growing engineering team in Perth. You’ll work closely with our secondary engineers to develop detailed design packages for renewable and high voltage infrastructure projects across Australia.
Develop detailed secondary system drawings including protection relays, SCADA panels, interlocking packages, single line diagrams, panel layouts, AC/DC schematics and switchroom documentation
Work in close collaboration with secondary engineers and technical officers to deliver high-quality design packages
Check drawings for compliance with client requirements and standards prior to issuing for manufacturing and construction
Provide technical and engineering design assistance to project managers and engineers, including support in resolving technical issues
Assist in the preparation of tender designs
Manage document flow to clients, suppliers and third parties
Support a strong team culture and contribute to continuous improvement
Skills and Experiences:
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
Experience in secondary electrical drafting — protection relays, SCADA, switchroom documentation
Experience with Australian utility standards or renewable grid connection projects
- Experience in the utilities or renewable energy industry (highly regarded but not essential)
- Proficiency with drafting software, with the ability to interpret and apply design information from key stakeholders with the end user in mind
- Relevant tertiary studies (favourable but not essential)
- A trade background complemented by recent studies or drafting experience (highly desirable)
