Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PYMHWS) is Victoria’s newest public mental health service dedicated to the care of young people aged 12 to 25 experiencing complex mental health challenges.
PYMHWS is leading a bold and values-driven transformation in youth mental health care across Melbourne’s north and west. The Opportunity:
The Psychosocial Recovery team has 3 main functions – to provide support and upskilling in wellness and recovery interventions throughout the PYMHWS workforce, to create community opportunities for young people to access Psychosocial support, and to run in-house groups and programs.
Integrated clinically, the team work closely with all treating teams across all streams and regions of the service across PYMHWS sites: Parkville, Footscray, Werribee, Sunshine.
Oversee and contribute to Psychosocial Recovery Services at PYMHWS. Focusing on key domains of recovery (such as health, vocation / education, social connection and functional recovery), this role oversees all programs and groups.
Our service is made up of compassionate, curious, and committed people. As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Senior Clinician to join the team in a Family Leave fixed-term role until July 2027.

About the Role:
The Senior Mental Health Clinician holds a key leadership role in supporting the care and recovery of young people with complex mental health needs within the Psychosocial Recovery Service.
Work closely with the team, community partners and treating teams across regions and streams to maximise the impact of psychosocial recovery options for young people.
What You'll Do:
- Provide high-quality clinical care based on clinical experience working with young people with serious mental illness.
- Provide oversight and support for primary interventions with individuals and groups, including debriefing and upskilling junior clinicians.
- Provide secondary consultation and education about therapeutic group interventions to a wide range of staff, including ELP education, students and PYMHWS staff training.
- Establish and maintain effective interfaces and partnerships with key agencies and community groups through consultation, liaison, education and collaborative project work, both internal and external to PYMHWS.
About You:
A passionate and skilled mental health professional with experience supporting young people with complex mental health issues. You value inclusivity, cultural safety, and continuous learning, and you're committed to delivering responsive, high-quality mental health leadership. Your strong communication, clinical, and organisational skills enable you to build effective therapeutic relationships and navigate complex care systems with confidence and compassion. You have a strong interest and passion for Psychosocial Recovery and group work, and an inclusive, strengths based leadership style.
✔️ Eligible disciplines: Grade 4 RPN, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker / Grade 3 Psychologist
✔️ Relevant registration and qualifications (see position description for details)
✔️ Strong leadership skills, along with significant knowledge of Psychosocial Recovery systems, and a systemic approach to community partnerships.
✔️ Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the application of clinical practice in the mental health field and specifically with young people experiencing mental health disorders
✔️ Experience in clinical assessment, risk management, and delivering specialist interventions for complex depression and anxiety
