SLR Consulting is a rapidly growing professional services consultancy with over 4,000 consulting engineers and scientists across Asia Pacific, Africa, Europe and North America. Our established Engineering & Design Business Unit has developed a strong reputation for technical excellence, providing high quality tailored services and specialist, responsive engineering, environmental and scientific advice to a range of clients.

Due to our growing pipeline of interesting and challenging projects, we are looking for an experienced Senior Structural Engineer with 7+ years’ experience to join our thriving South East Queensland team.

Variety is key to this career developing opportunity, working on the structural components of Transport Infrastructure, Renewables, Waste Recycling, Industrial, Commercial and Residential Developments and Mining projects. In this role you will also support and collaborate with other Technical Disciplines, including (but not limited to) Geotechnics, Transport Advisory, Planning and Approvals, Hydrology & Hydrogeology and Environmental Specialist Services, servicing national and international projects.

The role can be based in our Brisbane CBD , or from our Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast offices, offering flexibility alongside strong project exposure. You’ll be joining a friendly and dynamic team while being part of a 1000+ community of SLR APAC professionals, enjoying the benefits of a global network.

Responsibilities
This role offers excellent long-term rewards and opportunities for learning, expanding technical knowledge and career advancement, including:

Working on a wide range of projects across the Infrastructure, Built Environment, Manufacturing & Industry, Mining and Resources and Power & Energy sectors.
Leading structural design and analysis across a variety of projects, ensuring safe, compliant and high-quality outcomes.
Prepare, review and approve structural calculations, reports and design documentation.
Managing and coordinating project deliverables, in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Providing technical guidance, mentoring and oversight to junior engineers and drafters.
Supporting project planning, budgeting, scheduling and delivery to meet client and commercial expectations
Building and maintaining strong client relationships to support repeat work and long-term partnerships.
Challenging existing approaches with a focus on innovation, efficiency and continuous improvement.

Experience
Outside wanting to join a positive and friendly team, the right candidate will have:

7+ years’ experience with tertiary qualifications in civil engineering.
RPEQ (Structural) accreditation is required
Demonstrated experience delivering structural design projects across infrastructure, industrial, mining, renewables or built environment sectors.
Strong technical capability in structural analysis and design, with in-depth knowledge of relevant Australian Standards.
Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g. SpaceGass, ETABS, INDUCTA SLB or similar).
Experience in structural site inspections and construction phase services, including responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings and providing technical support during construction.
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to build client and stakeholder relationships.
Well-developed creative, lateral thinking and problem-solving skills.
