Delhi6 Sweets & Savouries is a well-established Indian sweets and savouries business known for producing authentic, high-quality Indian sweets, snacks, and food. We are looking for an experienced Indian Sweet Chef / Head Sweet Chef to join our kitchen team and take a leading role in our sweets production.
This is a great opportunity for someone who has strong hands-on experience in preparing traditional Indian sweets and is ready to take responsibility for quality, consistency, production planning, and team supervision.
About the Role
As the Indian Sweet Chef / Head Sweet Chef, you will be responsible for preparing a wide range of traditional Indian sweets while leading a team of chefs and kitchen hands who will assist with daily production.
The successful candidate must be confident in making Indian sweets in a commercial kitchen environment and must be able to maintain consistent taste, texture, quality, and presentation. You will also be required to assist with stock take, ordering, production planning, quality control, and other kitchen management duties.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing a wide range of traditional Indian sweets, including milk-based sweets, syrup-based sweets, fried sweets, barfi, ladoo, gulab jamun, rasgulla, ras malai, jalebi, kaju sweets, and other mithai as required.
- Leading and supervising chefs, assistant chefs, and kitchen hands involved in sweet production.
- Ensuring all sweets are produced to a consistent standard in taste, texture, size, colour, freshness, and presentation.
- Planning daily and weekly production according to customer demand, catering orders, stock levels, and seasonal requirements.
- Training and guiding junior staff in correct sweet-making techniques, preparation methods, hygiene practices, and kitchen procedures.
- Conducting regular stock takes and monitoring ingredient levels.
- Assisting with ordering ingredients and kitchen supplies as required.
- Reducing wastage and ensuring efficient use of ingredients and kitchen resources.
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe production area.
- Ensuring all food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety standards are followed.
- Working closely with management to improve production efficiency, quality control, and kitchen systems.
- Supporting the business during busy periods, festivals, catering orders, and high-volume production days.
Skills and Experience Required
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- Previous experience preparing Indian sweets in a commercial kitchen, sweet shop, restaurant, or food production environment.
- Strong knowledge of traditional Indian mithai preparation methods.
- Ability to prepare sweets in large quantities while maintaining consistent quality.
- Experience working in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Good leadership skills and the ability to guide and manage a small team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good understanding of stock control, ingredient management, and ordering.
- Ability to work under pressure, especially during busy periods and festival seasons.
- Good hygiene standards and understanding of food safety requirements.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a professional attitude.
Highly Regarded
The following experience will be highly regarded:
- Previous experience as a Head Sweet Chef, Senior Sweet Chef, Mithai Chef, Indian Dessert Chef, or similar role.
- Experience managing or supervising a sweets production team.
- Experience with bulk production, catering orders, retail display sweets, and festival production.
- Knowledge of both North Indian and broader Indian sweet varieties.
- Ability to help introduce new sweets or improve existing recipes while maintaining traditional quality.
