At Equinix, our Critical Facilities Engineers operate, manage, maintain, and repair critical and non-critical power systems, HVAC, BMS, plumbing, fire control & suppression, and all site services. Our critical facilities team also perform all related vendor support in a mission critical environment.
Our teams work across all engineering disciplines (Electrical/Mechanical/Controls) and for this position we are looking to add to our onsite Controls expertise with 2 roles available. This a more junior/developing position and applicants should have a solid grounding in Controls (1-2 + years), be able to support the Controls Engineering team, but foremost must work as a Critical Facilities Engineer within the South Sydney Campus. We are also seeking an experienced Controls engineer at the same site.
You will work with a team of senior engineers and SME’s, partnered closely with a Controls Engineer as you develop your operational knowledge in relations our critical infrastructure – as you take on greater responsibility and autonomy in relation to BMS, SCADA, lighting and other controls systems and infrastructure.
Broad experience with BMS programming, configuration and commissioning will be highly advantageous, and ideally recent service work will enable you to build your site expertise quickly and develop into the role. South Sydney Campus operates 5 sites across Alexandria and Mascot, so a desire to work across sites when required will be highly advantageous.
We are open to candidates at early and mid-career stages of employment, from a Degree or Trade background and with an enthusiasm for learning, a technical mindset, commitment to site safety and ability to learn quickly and retain key information at all times.
This role will be based at SY5 with onsite gym, pool table, parking and other facilities offered to our staff.
Key responsibilities: (either leading or supporting)
Completes all maintenance protocols, plans, activities on time and accurately, including daily, weekly, and monthly site checks.
Assist colleagues and internal teams with control-related issues, investigations and works on site (eg. equipment repairs and replacements, new installs, project work, etc)
Take a lead role on site-based Controls related activity including project work, commissioning, BMS work, rollouts
Manage and oversee specialist vendors for all major works, planned repairs and maintenance to mechanical, electrical, and special systems.
Participate in an on-call roster to act as the first responder for sites’ incidents, managing, resolving, and/or escalating critical issues outside of regular working hours.
