About the role
We are seeking an experienced Accountant to manage accurate financial reporting, strengthen financial controls and provide practical analysis to support informed decision-making across the organisation.
Reporting to management, you will work across month-end reporting, budgeting, cash flow, compliance and process improvement while collaborating with operational leaders and external advisers.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow reporting.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations, investigate variances and maintain the integrity of the general ledger.
- Support annual budgets, rolling forecasts, cash flow planning and financial modelling.
- Provide analysis and clear reporting to management on service performance, profitability, costs, risks and improvement opportunities.
- Coordinate accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, payroll-related reconciliations and debt follow-up processes.
- Prepare and support statutory and taxation obligations, including BAS, GST, PAYG and year-end information, in conjunction with external advisers where required.
- Maintain effective internal controls, financial policies and audit-ready records.
- Support external audit, insurance, funding and compliance information requests.
- Review accounting systems and workflows and implement practical improvements to reporting accuracy, efficiency and scalability.
- Work collaboratively with managers and other stakeholders to support operational and financial objectives.
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a closely related discipline.
- At least three years of relevant accounting experience, including month-end reporting and financial analysis.
- Sound knowledge of Australian accounting principles and taxation and compliance obligations relevant to a private company.
- Demonstrated experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Strong spreadsheet skills and confidence using accounting and payroll systems.
- High attention to detail, sound judgement and the ability to meet deadlines while managing competing priorities.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
Highly regarded
- CPA or CA qualification, or progress toward professional accreditation.
- Accounting experience in the NDIS, disability, community services, healthcare or another government-funded service environment.
- Experience improving finance systems, reporting processes or internal controls in a growing organisation.

Pay: $80,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
