About the role:
As Enterprise Architecture and Digital Enablement Manager, you will lead the architecture practice that connects Unitywater’s Technology and Digital Plan to practical delivery. You will guide material technology decisions, establish target architecture and transition roadmaps, and make sure security, resilience, lifecycle cost, reuse and customer outcomes are considered early.
The
Enterprise Architecture and Digital Enablement Manager will act as Unitywater’s Chief Architect and senior technical design authority who has the unique opportunity to shape the technology future of hundreds of thousands of people across Southeast Queensland. Reporting to the Head of Technology and Digital Solutions, you will lead a multi-disciplinary architecture team and guide material technology decisions across business, data, applications, integration, infrastructure, network, cloud, cyber security, operational technology and artificial intelligence.
You will help define what tomorrow looks like, ensuring the technology ecosystem is innovative, sustainable and aligned to the strategic ambitions of Unitywater.
In this role, you'll:
- Shape the future technology vision through target architecture and practical transition roadmaps that enables Unitywater's strategic objectives.
- Lead a team of Architects through coaching, clearer accountability and strong stakeholder engagement in delivering enterprise-wide impact and value.
- Drive technology strategy and investment decisions through transparent and trusted advice and architectural leadership.
- Simplify and modernise technology landscapes to improve business outcomes and customer experiences.
About you:
You are a senior credible architecture leader who combines enterprise thinking with practical delivery judgement. You can influence executives, constructively challenge assumptions; and operate at a strategic level while staying close enough to the work to test decisions and coach technical specialists. You are known for being able translate complex choices into clear improve delivery outcomes and applying sound, balanced judgement and strong business acumen in decision making. You are confident in communicating complex ideas to non-technical executive, operational audiences to support effective and informed decision making.

Must have
- Senior enterprise or solution architecture leadership experience in a complex, regulated or critical-infrastructure environment.
- Proven ability to establish target architecture, transition roadmaps, standards, reusable patterns and architecture governance.
- Strong cross-domain architecture judgement across data, applications, integration, infrastructure, cloud, network, cyber security, operational technology and artificial intelligence.
- Experience assessing emerging technologies, industry trends and innovation opportunities to support future business needs.
- Experience improving architecture decision quality, demand management, service performance, reuse, exceptions and technical debt outcomes.
- Credible people leadership, including coaching specialists, setting expectations, building capability and improving team performance.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to translate technical complexity into clear choices for executives and delivery teams.
- Relevant tertiary qualification, TOGAF or comparable enterprise architecture qualification, or substantial equivalent professional experience.
Nice to have
- Experience in a water utility, asset-intensive, operational technology or critical-infrastructure environment.
- Experience presenting architecture strategies, investment recommendations or business cases to executive or board-level audiences.
- Experience leading architecture review boards, technology governance forums or enterprise-wide transformation initiatives.
- Applied knowledge of AI architecture and governance, including responsible use, integration, data dependencies and lifecycle controls.
- Strong commercial judgement across whole-of-life cost, sourcing, vendor management and technology investment trade-offs.
