Our Technology team is the backbone of the business, building and maintaining the information technology infrastructure that support Coles Group. As part of our Integration function, you will join a highly collaborative engineering environment that works across Coles Business, Digital delivery teams, architecture, infrastructure and subject matter experts.
This team plays a critical role in shaping modern integration patterns, enabling reusable solutions and supporting the reliable movement of data and services across a complex enterprise technology landscape.
You are an experienced technical leader who enjoys solving complex integration problems, supporting engineering teams and influencing stakeholders in a large enterprise environment.
Reporting to the Delivery Manager - Integration, the Tech Lead - Integration will provide technical leadership for an integration squad, setting engineering standards and guiding the technical design of scalable, secure and supportable solutions.
You will work closely with architects, engineering leaders and delivery stakeholders to translate functional and non-functional requirements into high quality digital products. You will manage technical risks, drive quality initiatives and help the squad balance project delivery with sustainable engineering practices.
In this role, you will:
- Lead technical design and engineering practices across an integration squad
- Coach and mentor engineers, lifting capability and encouraging collaboration across the team
- Assess and validate solutions against functional and non-functional requirements, including security, scalability, extensibility and supportability
- Drive quality through effective code and artefact review, continuous integration, automation and sound source code management practices
- Contribute to roadmaps, technical vision and pragmatic decision making with architecture, delivery and engineering stakeholders
- Identify and assess emerging technologies, including how they may apply within the retail and Coles technology environment
Proven experience leading software development teams or squads in a complex enterprise environment- Strong hands-on software development capability, ideally across Java, Python and/or Node.js
- Experience with DevOps pipelines, CI/CD practices and automation across build, test and deployment
- Strong hands-on skills using Azure ADF, Azure Cloud, Node JS, Typescript, Docker, ControlM
- Experience with cloud and on-premises deployments, including reusable patterns in cloud environments
- You have experience working with Quality Engineering practices, including test automation, continuous testing, defect prevention, unit testing, integration testing and system testing
- Knowledge of distributed computing, web services, APIs, ETL, integration technologies, networking, protocols and design patterns
- Experience with engineering practices such as packaging, provisioning, configuration as code, logging, monitoring and source code management
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code tooling such as Terraform
- Experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes and AKS
- A strong understanding of Agile delivery and experience working with Agile teams
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, communication and stakeholder relationship skills
- Tertiary qualifications, relevant industry experience or equivalent experience in the core technology stack
- Exposure to AI engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude would be highly regarded.
