The Opportunity
As our Edge Infrastructure Technical Architect, you will own the architectural blueprint, hardware selection, and end-to-end deployment strategy for our next-generation store systems. You will bridge the gap between high-level enterprise design and hands-on automation, ensuring our distributed edge nodes, smart networks, and mobile fleets are secure, highly scalable, and exceptionally reliable.
You will treat our massive physical footprint as a Cloud-Native Product—architecting systems that are consumable entirely via code (IaC) and protected by invisible, automated security.
What you’ll do
-
Define and drive the strategic roadmap for our Edge and IoT platforms. Lead the evaluation, prototyping, and validation of hardware and next-generation cloud integration.
-
Architect robust, scalable compute and storage configurations (including hybrid cloud, software-defined networking, and single-node patterns) optimized for retail environments utilising technologies like Red Hat OpenShift and Linux.
-
Standardize and govern enterprise-scale communication protocols (e.g., MQTT, CoAP) and integration frameworks with platforms like Azure IoT Hub.
-
Architect robust CI/CD deployment pipelines (Azure Pipelines, GitOps, Ansible) and design invisible "Policy-as-Code" automated vulnerability scanning.
-
Architect ruggedised Android solutions and the management platforms to support them like Omnissa, to meet the specific needs of retail and distribution centers locations.
-
Mentor a high-performing squad of infrastructure engineers and guide business stakeholders, translating speed and agility needs into robust platform capabilities.
What you’ll bring
